About this ebook

“If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have not more than four years to live; no more bees, no more pollination....no more men!”

Albert Einstein

Evangline is a Creation Angel, designed to tend the whole of creation from the entire expanse of the universe to the small planet that is called Earth.

Evangeline’s mission is of the highest importance, and she must become human in order to change the fate of mankind.

Set in Washington DC, Evangeline embarks on a project with Heartlands Plc., a world leading chemical engineering company, and Greenpeace; ensuring her knowledge of the cataclysmic issues at hand are rectified.

From a farm in Kittitas County through to corporate espionage and collaboration with the FBI, the story interlaces the impact of several major characters; all capable of saving or destroying the future of Earth.

Unlike assignment angels, Evangeline does not interact with humans during her missions; she is a balancer of environments and a keeper of ecological and universal order. However the future of the planet is at stake, and she has to take the human form she does not relish, to encourage a new future, and a new potential for Earth.

Christine Byrne

Christine Byrne has been writing all her life. From a young age she wrote songs and poetry and continued writing into her adult years. As a writer Christine has written about important news matters relating to the environment, that have been published on line. The Angel Sagas are a series of fictional stories, that intertwine fantasy and modern world issues. Each individual story involves one key Angel who has a specific mission to undertake, and in order to carry out their mission they must walk as a human. Each story within the Angel Sagas focuses on a specific topic. Loki's Path is a story about greed and corruption within a political system, the key to its exposure residing with a homeless man in London. Evangeline's Mission touches on the destructive nature man has on the planet and Jadine's battle explores a new level of terrorism, that if not stopped, could affect the security of the whole world. When inspired by modern issues, Christine creatively sculptures a plot that joins together the issues at hand, with the fantasy of Angelic intervention.Research for further Angel Sagas are underway, and Christine is also working on her biggest novel, "The 4th Grace" which will bring the Angel Saga's to their final conclusion.

    *****

Many thanks my brother Ian and my son James for their support. Both are my biggest critics, and the endorsements of each book has motivated me to write more stories within the Angel Sagas. Their support and inspiration has encouraged me to tackle different modern topics, within the realms of fiction. Thanks also go to my best friend Elaine, who is in herself one of my biggest inspirations.

Please note that I use British spelling throughout. You will see doubled letters (e.g. focussed), ou’s (e.g. colour) and ‘re’ (centre) as well as a few other differences from American spelling.

I hope you enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

    Chapter 1

Evangeline powered through the universe with urgency, her angelic form speeding like a shooting star through the blackness of the expanse. Her assignment was of the utmost urgency as she sped toward the earth, her destination Washington DC and her mission of such importance to the survival to the children.

Landing in a farmer’s field outside of the area, her form invisible to humans she marched towards the beehives meticulously placed for optimum beekeeping activities. Her form was large, taller than an Oak tree, her long slender legs shone like gold as she urgently strode across the field. Her gold and silver shimmering wings urgently folded down into her back and her long flaxen golden hair billowed in the gentle breeze.

She stood by one of the hives and closed her eyes, informing her creator that she was ready. There was no time to lose, time was of the essence and she needed to communicate with the queen bee of this particular hive as were her instructions.

Her glorious golden form transformed with speed giving her the first earthly form she would take during this mission; her small black and yellow body gave a little shudder before she entered the hive to communicate with the queen. This information was vital and Evangeline needed to use all she obtained during this encounter when she took her human form.

Scarlet walked into her research lab based in Washington DC, she was a senior chemical engineer for Heartland plc. A global company that was one of the world market leaders in its field.

Hi Jack she called over to her colleague sitting at his table sipping coffee Got one there for me?

Morning Scarlet he waved across the large room as he blew on his coffee in an attempt to cool it down Get your sexy little backside over here lady, and I’ll pour you a coffee.

Scarlet laughed, she loved Jack so very much and they had worked together for over 5 years now, following her acceptance to the company after obtaining her Master Degree from Harvard. He told her every day that he was going to marry her, to which she always laughed as he was simply out to make her smile.

She strolled over to where he sat and accepted the coffee he had poured for her, in her favourite blue china mug.

Thanks she said and bent to peck him on the cheek

    Will you marry me Scarlet?

No Jack I won’t marry you, but I will work with you.

Arrhhhh rejection again! I don’t think my heart can take this daily torture. He clutched his chest in mocked dejection, as she playfully slapped his shoulder.

Big day today Jack she sipped her coffee her stare fixed on her colleague’s dark brown eyes We need to finish those tests today so we can begin writing up our findings.

Scarlet Rosenberg you are a slave to your job. I bet you were researching all weekend?

‘Guilty as charged’ she thought. Her work was her life and she knew that these findings could mean a big promotion for her.

As the youngest daughter of five siblings, born in Kittitas County, Scarlet had struggled to grab attention from her sisters. She knew that her parents hadn’t planned for a fifth child, and sensed that they had been disappointed; yet again they had another girl. Her father had always wanted a son who could tend the fields with him, but it never happened. Instead he got another girl, who sought solace in books, libraries and chat forums.

Born Jane Rosenberg, she had legally changed her name at the age of eighteen; Scarlet sounded much more interesting and she had changed her image at the same time. She transformed her long brown mousey coloured
