The story revolves around the central character Ebenezer Scrooge. He happens to be a stingy and irascible character. With the progression of the story, he goes through ideological, ethical, and emotional transformation.

In those days new Christmas customs such as Christmas tree and greeting cards were being introduced and they were gaining a very rapid popularity, and in the process of these new found interests, people were going away from the customs such as carol singing, etc.
Since Charles Dickens had a very sad and uninteresting childhood, it is assumed that this interest in writing a book on the subject of Christmas was inspired from the things which he had missed.
There seem to be various sources for this story, but it is also assumed that the author’s sympathy for the poor, and various Christmas stories and fairy tales that he had heard during his
