About this ebook
The county of Kent has always been at the forefront of English history. Being close to Continental Europe, invading armies have always threatened Kent's coastline. My book is a historical journey through such threats and invasions. Romans, Vikings, Napoleon's aborted 1805 invasion. Hellfire corner and the threat of Nazi invasion, all are subjects covered in my book. Invicta Tales is a poetic tribute to Kent's contribution to English history. From Chatham Dockyard, built by convict labour, to Royal St Georges golf course steeped in Open history, all have contributed in their own way to making Kent's history a few stitches in England's rich historical tapestry.

I am a 50 year old writer from England. I have a selection of screenplays, stage plays and comedy I shall be posting on Smash words in the future. From action thrillers to Science Fiction, 10 minute plays, to one act plays, I have a vast range of material waiting for conversion to eBooks. Smash words is an excellent channel for a writer's work, it gives the opportunity to get work out there that might struggle to get interest from publishers or film makers in this current recession. The main duty of a writer is to entertain, hopefully something my work manages to do.

Foreword
In my book I've tried to encompass the rich diversity of the history of Kent. Although I've attempted to cover many significant moments in Kent's history, plus a few personal childhood memories, I'm sure anybody who reads this, will be quick to point out many historical events I've missed.
The themes I've covered, I think, embody the lifeblood of this great English county. When history has come to call, the people of Kent have never been found wanting. The threat of invasion, Dunkirk, the more recent history of Zeebrugge and the miners' strike, all these themes are covered in my poetic tribute. I hope people enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it.
I start with the Roman invasion of Britain, the success of which meant that the county followed
