Have fun learning geography (yes, it's possible!). Possums in the Attic is a book of ten fun, two-minute geography quiz games that can be enjoyed by kids aged 10 and up and adults of all ages. They have been designed by a teacher (me) and were originally used as teaching aids in the classroom to teach geography, to foster creative thought, and to reinvigorate students when they were bored. When I was teaching, if my students became tired and discipline problems began, I would say, “What country would you be in if you found possums in your attic?” This got the attention of even the most disenchanted students. These fun geography quiz games are designed to engage people in the learning process. Several hints are given about a certain country; then the reader/students are asked to guess the country being described.
Possums in the Attic is part of the “What Country Am I?” Series of Socrates Teaching Aids. This series provides a fun way to learn geography. And since the focus is on people and human interest stories, readers/students will be given a true taste of each country.
In keeping with our motto (“It’s not how much you know: It’s how you think!”) these fun geography quiz games provide practical everyday information about countries instead of endless impersonal facts. After all, geography is about real people in real places, not about cold hard statistics. And people/students will be kept on their toes because each teaching aid finishes with the question “What Country Am I?”
Welcome to our magical geography tour.
