An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other.

Originally only available online as The Office by tby789—and garnering over 2 million reads on fanfiction sites—Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for re-release.

Chloe and Bennett navigate the treacherous waters of an office romance.

The Good
-Scribd sub ebook
-Crackalicious: easy read that is exhilarating while you’re reading it. I literally tore through it in a day (with breaks) since there wasn’t much to the overall tale. It’s a page turner, for sure.

-Searing hot chemistry: Did I mention the sex? There is mounds o’sex, heaping piles of it, can’t turn around without hitting a body part of it, in this tale. It comes on hard and fast within the first 10% of reading and continues throughout. Bennett Ryan and Chloe Mills have a good antagonistic relationship, even if I wasn’t sure of the why at first.

-Forbidden romance: This is a standard romance novel trope - forbidden romance between boss and assistant - that I enjoy and have gravitated to in the past. Chloe and Bennett’s chemistry isn’t about their conversations (luckily), but they were the kind of characters that you wanted to know more of, besides sex. Chloe’s family is touched on briefly as is Bennett’s, but I would have liked to have known what really makes them tick. With their clothes on, I mean.

-Standalone HEA: I was thrilled to see that it wasn’t a cliffhanger and that the story resolves itself at the end.

The Bad and Everything In Between
-Crack kills: The tension between them was strong at first, but I would have liked some anticipation, some conversation, some dialogue that displays *why* he’s a beautiful bastard and she’s a raging shrew. To really build the tension until it explodes, instead of it just bustin’ out the gate the first second they’re alone in a room together.

I understand that this was fanfiction at first, pulled to publish and I can see that. The way it was structured, it felt like little vignettes - tension before and after, with the sex the star of the chapter.

The only way you felt the story building and changing was with the *type* of sex they were having. Angry sex, confused sex, tender sex, more confused sex, eventually loving sex, back to angry sex, etc.

I felt I only started to know Chloe and Bennett once they broke up. The bulk of the story that doesn’t involve sex happens then, and it would have been nice to see that develop gradually instead of thrown in at the end because they weren’t having sex.

But in the end, it was like eating cotton candy - the sugar rush was enormous, but once that faded I was left wondering why the hell I just enjoyed eating something so insubstantial.

The Bottom Line (3.5 stars)
This is the very definition of guilty pleasure. You read a book like this because of the crazy hot sex. So if that’s what you’re looking for, you will enjoy this. more
I love the "Beautiful Series" and it all started here. This is my favorite but a close runner up is "Beautiful Beginning" just for hilarious sake. MORE!!more

I absolutely loved this series! Armed with tons of sexually explicit scenes, Bennett Ryan and Chloe Mills are by far a very entertaining love/hate couple who just can't keep their hands off each other. I love them to death and can't wait to read any other short novella they may have in the future. The other 2 couples are just as entertaining. By far my most loved series at the mo!more
