About this ebook

“Great. Just great.”

Paula looked out the window at the pouring rain and frowned.

She had only taken her bicycle to her sister’s house, which was just a few blocks away from where she lived, hoping to get what her sister asked for and then get out.

Apparently, the weather had other plans.

Sighing, she sat on a chair, staring at the red box Jade had asked her to get so she could ship it to her in Cape Town. Jade hadn’t told her what was inside, only saying that it was very special and that she needed it as soon as possible.

What could it be?

Unable to restrain her curiosity, she opened the box, ready to gasp in astonishment only to end up scowling in disappointment. What was inside was a simple necklace made of colorful wooden beads, some of which had faded in color due to age. Even the pendant was round and plain except for some cryptic symbols engraved near the edges.
