Invitation to the Seat of the Soul Foundation
Welcome
Welcome to this special Self-Empowerment Journal. It is designed to accompany our book The Mind of the Soul: Responsible Choice.
Our intention for creating this Journal is very specific: We want to help you create authentic power—the alignment of your personality with your soul. Responsible choice is one of the essential skills you will need to create authentic power. As you develop the ability to choose responsibly, you will simultaneously become more powerful.
In this Journal we will do what we can to:
Show you the difference between authentic power and external power, and the role of responsible choice in creating authentic power.
Help you understand responsible choice intellectually, experientially, and, especially, emotionally.
Provide exercises, practices, and opportunities to create authentic power both while you are using this Journal and long after you complete it.
We do not ask you to accept what we write as true, but instead to notice what resonates with you and, when something does, experiment with it. If you like what your experiment produces, continue to experiment. If we present something with which you do not resonate, let it go. Don’t try to wear a shoe that pinches. The Mind of the Soul: Responsible Choice and this Self-Empowerment Journal present a window through which we have come to see the world. This window has been helpful to us and we hope it will be helpful to you, too.
Love,
Gary Zukav and Linda Francis

I did not realize how important my choices are until I made the effort to look at what they had created. Even then, it took several more years for me to make the connection between what I choose and what I experience.
For example, when I graduated from Harvard I was angry, insecure, and violent. It seemed natural for me to enlist in the infantry and volunteer for the Green Berets. I was not drafted. I volunteered for more and more specialized training, bringing myself into contact with an increasingly homogeneous group of angry, insecure, and violent people. We did not look at ourselves that way. We admired ourselves and our jobs. That was because we shared the same consciousness, even though we had unique histories and challenges, and even though we sometimes did not like one another. Our skin colors, families, religious backgrounds, and the reasons that brought us together—such as running away from home, playing a heroic role, patriotism, and so forth—were different, but our energy was the same. It did not occur to me at the time that my choices about who I was and what I needed were bringing me into the company of
