To be a teacher is really a difficult task to perform, more so if you are teaching Mathematics. It requires one to exert a lot of extras; extra effort, extra patience, extra time and extra techniques and strategies to achieve the objectives set for the day. This is because among all the subjects taught in school, Mathematics is one of the most hated subjects by the majority of students. There were only few among those students who really like the subject, and most of the time they are those who are numerically and mathematically gifted. You can rarely hear student who is weak in the subject and is trying hard to learn it. This is the greatest challenge faced by a Mathematics teacher.

One of the branches of Mathematics is Algebra. This is a very important subject in all areas. Its concepts can be used in Trigonometry, Geometry, Accounting, Physics, Chemistry and other field of studies. Its basic function is to solve for the unknown with the use of symbols. On the part of the students, these what makes the subject hard or difficult to understand; they sometimes or rather most of the times cannot analyze what those unknown symbols represent. It seems like it’s really hard for them to visualize things or situations when there is/are missing.

But what really is the problem? Dealing with Algebra requires one to be good at comprehension. There are times when students can actually solve mathematical equations dealing with one or more step procedures. But if you try to give them worded problems, the tendency is; for them not to answer at all or maybe tried to answer at the beginning
