Summary

In ancient Greek mythology, Iris was the messenger of the gods. She was the grand-daughter of the earth goddess, Gaea and the sea god, Ontus. She travelled on the arc of the rainbow bearing messages between earth, sea and sky.
In this story where the title comes from Homer’s Odyssey – “In the middle of the wine-dark sea lies Crete... there Greeks survive.”
Steve’s return to Crete, after a sad love affair and a surprise inheritance, along with his encounter with Iris, change his life dramatically – Steve becomes Stavros as he embraces his Greek heritage.
