Inflammation. It’s really what belly fat actually is. Ever felt your husband’s rock-hard beer gut? Or the stiffness in the flab of the back of your arms that you know is not muscle? That acne on your face or your teen’s face? IBS? What about your puffy eye-lids, cheeks, and swollen joints? This is not excess fat as much as it is inflammation in the delicate tissue of the body. All of these mentioned here are due to inflammation. Inflammation is not just what we think about the joints of an arthritic feeling like. Inflammation has all kinds of facets, including gut distress and digestive issues, belly fat, acne, headaches, migraines, and most of all - sugar cravings, carb cravings, anxiety, sleep issues. Many times fat accumulation in the body is actually chronic inflammation that can be easily remedied. How? Avoid the foods that are causing the inflammation. The top culprit involved in the causation of inflammation? Gluten. What is gluten? Simply put, it is the protein found in wheat that gives it the sticky-hold-the-bread-dough-ball-together
feeling. Anything made from flour, barley, rye will contain gluten. That means breads, cereals, pastas, crackers, flatbreads, etc will contain gluten.
