Paul Palul Rideout

PALUL could be called a Renaissance Man. He has balanced art and science for over 70 years. He has worked in laboratories across the country and simultaneously created a body of art work that illustrates his development as an artist and a person. The auto-biographical book, VISION-QUEST: A SAGA OF THE 1960s, presents the dramatic story of a young man trying to find himself in the turbulent sixties. Paul PALUL Rideout is considered a "Master Ceramic Artist" and currently lives in Redding, CA with his wife, Allison and a fifteen-pound cat named Spaz. Besides writing, his interests include art, teaching, chemistry, gardening and philosophy. To see some of his art and more in-depth information, visit his website at PALUL.COM. Palul: The need to create is a natural instinct for man. In both writing and clay I try to find and explore those qualities that have a common human appeal, universal ideas and symbols that transcend time, languages, locations and cultures. I am fortunate to have found two mediums that bring my passions for art and science together. Like the clay itself, I expect my ceramic pieces to last thousands of years. Writing, although more ephemeral, has the potential to reach a wider audience as it lives in the changing media of the times.
