I loved this book! I really liked the text and message. “The Twins’ Littler Sister” is about a set of twin sisters who are always fighting. The girls explain that they have two of everything- two beds, two dressers, two baby dolls, etc., BUT they only have one mom! This is a huge problem! For example, “when we take a nap in the big grown-up bed, I want Mom to look at me.” But then her sister replies, “No, look at me. She’s my mom!” The twins’ mom told them that they couldn’t fight over her anymore because they were going to have a baby sister very soon. The girls pouted about it. When their baby sister was born, the twins’ really started to feel as if their mom had no time for them. By the end of the story, the twins’ realized that if they helped their mom with the baby that they would get to spend time with their mom and sister. Throughout the story, the twins’ are very competitive with each other. For example, one of the girls says, “She fell asleep when I sang to her.” The other sister then replied, “Don’t be silly! She’s asleep because I gave her my bunny. On the last page, the girls say, “I’m so glad we have a baby sister.” I really liked this book because it is very relatable to all readers. Many siblings are very competitive with one another. Many children are going to have younger siblings and feel like the twin’s did so this book could help “cope.” Overall, it was a great and cute read.
