“Well not you,” he said with a half-sneer as he took a sip of champagne that had been uncorked for the celebration. “There’s too much trim here for my taste.”

“Don’t be crude,” she said automatically.

“My apologies,” he replied acidly. “But the bride’s husband...” Raymond let his eyes pass over the good-looking groom who was drinking and watching his wife

“I’m not sure if I can arrange that.”

“Don’t worry about it. He’ll tire of her games soon enough. I’m always amused at these little events. Some of these women are so prim until they are allowed a dose of freedom and suddenly they have looser morals than the county whore.”

“Raymond!”

He looked down his nose at her protest. “That’s a little rich for you—a slave girl who can be used by anyone here—to be pretend to be shocked.”

“I...” but Jane had no words. Raymond’s were true.
