This little story comes complete with interesting illustrations by Matt McCoy. The story attracts children and adults who want to learn about Northern Canadian Cree culture. Colleen Mustus is the storyteller and a Cree Elder who shares the Cree way to attract good spirits. These processes include starting the day on a positive note, making offerings, smudging, respecting Elders, drumming to care for the drum spirit, working together and understanding sacredness. In the story, Grandfather wakes the family with the Morning Song, Grandfather and mother make an offering to Mother Earth and later Grandfather teaches the eldest boy to prepare him to become the family drum keeper.
