About this ebook

‘One box of candies, one blindfold, and in one night everything changed.’

Thanks to a rough break-up, computer programmer Leonard’s been miserable for months. He’s the first to admit, he picks partners based on what he sees. Which, according to his brother Nate is his biggest downfall. To prove a point, Nate forces him to attend a night of blindfold speed dating.
The men are plentiful, but making a choice goes against his superficial nature. As the evening draws to a close, he meets a man who breaks all the rules. He gives Leonard a kiss and only one solid clue to his identity before disappearing. Days after, and Leonard still can’t get that kiss out of his mind. But without a name or face, he holds little hope of ever finding the man.

Blak Rayne

A good friend, who is also an author, happened to mention that she likes to read author bios, and when she checked mine, sadly, she was disappointed. The bio I use is generic, blah, and it doesn't tell her anything personal about Blak Rayne. Her suggestion. Change it! What she really meant to say: "I want to read the juicy bits, lady!" Okay, the truth. My life is crazy hectic most days as I divide my time between family, friends, writing and marketing, while running our businesses and household. I spend an average of eight to twelve hours a day on the computer. Some of my favourite things are: cats, tea, anything in purple, yaoi, dragons, watching anime and movies, and listening to my large collection of music. I will read just about anything, but my preferred genres are fantasy, thriller, romance and science-fiction. I'm a member of the RWA & RWA-GVC, I attend conferences and writing groups whenever time permits, and I've taken several creative writing courses. In my spare time I build websites and proof-read for other authors. I also format eBooks, and I'm learning to create book covers. In the near future, I hope to take an editing course. Currently, I reside in British Columbia, Canada with my husband, our daughter and son. Out eldest passed away, so he's with us in spirit. What else can I tell you? Lots of things, but the most important tidbit, I'm passionate about my writing and plan to continue publishing. How many novels? Who knows, I guess until the ideas run dry.

    About the Author

    Chapter One

Sometimes, in order to move forward, you have to take a step back to better assess a situation. At least that’s what I kept telling myself out of desperation to remember more. But the few things forever set in stone were the rich timbre of his voice, taste of his lips, and the faint heat of his flesh laced with the scent of spicy cologne. He’d become an obsession, the man I had searched relentlessly for, and those were the only clues to his identity.

Snowflakes fell in the still air, ballerinas twirling this way and that, and the sky was an ocean of grey cotton batting. Silent. Peaceful. I waited in front of an empty commercial building, facing the massive windows like a pillar, unmovable and determined as strangers passed by, trying to piece together the fragmented images of a man I’d met once. I needed more answers. I’d gone through the sequence of events a thousand times searching for a new clue—a sound, word, anything that would lead me to him. But nothing came to mind.

    I guess I’m a sad excuse for a thirty-something human being
