    PRAISE FOR LOGAN HOWLETT’S

    STORIES FROM THE SARGE

A great quick read that tells the true story of local law enforcement’s first few experiences on the job. I highly recommend this book to anyone... This author’s quick thinking and humor while protecting and serving will keep you laughing. It reminds us again that we all have challenges, but it is how we deal with them makes our character. He has a very impressive list of past successes and I'm sure many more to come in the future from the sounds of it. I will definitely be downloading volume 2....

This story gives great insight of just a small fraction of what our police officers deal with on a daily basis. A great balance of interesting information with a touch of humor. A great read! Can't wait to read the next one.

Very good quick read that lets you in on what goes on in small town law enforcement. I highly recommend this book if you are thinking of becoming a LEO, already are, or even a civilian.

    Preface

To everyone out there who thinks that nothing ever happens in small towns -- you could not be more wrong. All of the following stories happened in less than three years of working time as a police officer, with only half of that time as a full time officer. Every event occurred in a town with a population less than 1,000. I suggest everyone ride with their local PD. You will be amazed at what you see in your own neighborhoods.

All of the following are my first-hand account of actual events. I am relaying these stories accurately to the best of my ability.

    Enjoy the read!

When you’re policing in a small town, you have no idea what you’ll see on any given night. Some nights you go the whole shift without seeing anything exciting. On other nights you see things that you never would have imagined. The one constant that you see almost every night though, is the unbelievable stupidity of so many people.

One night while I was on patrol, the officer in the town just to our west requested a cover unit while he did a vehicle search. He had a vehicle stopped just inside my city limits on the state highway. This particular stretch of road is very dark. Where he was stopped was almost perfectly in between the two towns. It was about three miles from the center of each of our municipalities. The
