About this ebook
Passion for Cats is a collection of five fiction and five non-fiction cat tales from amazing writers who share a deep rooted passion for our feline friends. The stories take readers on an incredible journey between fact and fiction. There are cats that save our planet and humans who seemed destined to sponsor homeless cats and, of course, cats who rule the world. Can you tell fact from fiction?

Living with Cats
It is difficult to obtain the friendship of a cat. It is a philosophical animal... one that does not place its affections thoughtlessly.

The trouble with sharing one's bed with cats is that they'd rather sleep on you than beside you.

Cats speak a subtle language in which few sounds carry many meanings, depending on how they are sung or purred. Mnrhnh
means comfortable soft chairs. It also means fish. It means genial companionship... and the absence of dogs.
- Val Schaffner

Cats are kindly masters, just so long as you remember your place.
- Paul Gray

After scolding one's cat one looks into its face and is seized by the ugly suspicion that it understood every word. And has filed it for reference.

He liked companionship, but he wouldn't be petted, or fussed over, or sit in anyone's lap a moment; he always extricated himself from such familiarity with dignity and with no show of temper. If there was any petting to be done, however, he chose to do it. Often he would sit looking at me, and then, moved by a delicate affection, come and pull at my coat and sleeve until he could touch my face with his nose, and then go away contented.
- Charles Dudley Warner

I put down my book, The Meaning of Zen, and see the cat smiling into her fur as she delicately combs it with her rough pink tongue. Cat, I would lend you this book to study but it appears you have already read it.
She looks up and gives me her full gaze. Don't be ridiculous,
she purrs, I wrote it.

Max
By J. D. Cano
It always gives me a shiver when I see a cat seeing what I can't see.
- Eleanor Farjeon
Max purred contentedly in Gina’s lap. His grey fur smoothed out under her stroking hand as he stared up into her eyes. Max’s face held the uncanny ability to express both thankfulness and extreme boredom at the same time, and he flexed both emotions now as Gina continued to show her love. She had owned
him for five years now and still had not fully unraveled the meanings of his facial expressions and doubted she ever would.
The evening passed quickly, as it usually did, with Gina watching her prime time shows and a freshly fed Max lying on her lap. Her last program having ended, she stood up and carried Max to the back door to finish their nightly ritual. Gently, she leaned over and placed the large cat on the ground and opened the door.
Good night, Mr. Max. Enjoy your evening.
Max looked up with his amber eyes, twined around her legs a few times then stopped to check the darkness that crept in from the open exit. His body froze and then his head slowly began to move forward on his neck, stretching to give him an extra reach, then he leapt out into the night.
Have fun, sir, doing whatever it is you do all night.

Max the Cat was halfway down the wooden deck stairs before he suddenly lost interest with whatever had caught his attention in the first place. The cool night breeze washed over him and with too much energy to sleep and not enough interest in moving, Max did what he always did in these situations; he began to groom himself.
For him, grooming was a long lost art that his human counterpart did not seem to understand. Often when he groomed in the house he would glance up to see Gina peering back at him. He looked back and asked, "I’m busy, may I
