Kahlil Gibran, 1883-1931, was Lebanese-American writer, poet and artist. He was born in Lebanon but emigrated with his family to Boston, USA in 1895. After a brief period of study in Beirut, he settled down in 1912 in New York, where he wrote essays and short stories in both English and Arabic.
