Big Duck, Little Duck, and Porcupine play at a number of things; each time Little Duck quietly takes care of business while the other two cluelessly make not-so-functional plans. Because of this, the book is very humorous. Even small children will likely shake their heads in disbelief and laughter when Big Duck and Porcupine do things like set up a lemonade stand but forget the lemonade. The illustrations are very basic but fit the story and tone. What's especially nice about this title is that it is clearly an early reader with basic language, but it still has a story and is funny; furthermore, it's presented as three separate stories, so it's almost like a bridge between early readers and chapter books. Children can choose to read all three stories at once, or they can take a break between stories if they're getting tired of reading by themselves.
