The Way to His Heart - Felice Stevens

    The Way to His Heart

    by Felice Stevens

    Chapter One

    Jonah

My guy. I pulled the comforter over us and gazed at Gideon sleeping next to me, his even breathing signaling he’d yet to wake up. Dark waves tumbled over his brow and curled at the nape of his neck; he’d grown his hair longer once I told him to stop thinking he needed to impress people at the synagogue for me. They didn’t care if he had long hair, and to be honest, I’d caught a number of women and even some men giving him the eye on the occasions he’d managed to leave the store and come for services Saturday morning. They liked it as much as I did.

Unable to resist, I kissed his smooth shoulder, loving the taste of his salty skin. He stirred and opened an eye.

    Mmm. Don’t stop.

I don’t plan to. I pinned him to the mattress, and before he could say anything, kissed him again, plunging my tongue into his mouth. Our kisses turned sweet and gentle, tongues slowly exploring as if it was our first time kissing. And for me, it was—each day spent with Gideon was as perfect as a first kiss.

Gideon slid his arms around me, hugging me close, and I pulled him on top as I rolled over.

I love you. You know? I searched his face and noticed the circles under his eyes and the tired lines that shouldn’t have been there after a night’s sleep.

    Yeah. I love you too.

He lay his head on my chest, and I stroked his back.

What’s wrong? I can tell something’s bothering you.

Gideon’s feet tangled with mine. At my last meeting with the doctor, she said that it’s her belief I’ve reached my potential; I may never read or write beyond the level I’m at right now.

I felt him swallow and tremble slightly. Behind that tough exterior he showed to the world was a man who suffered tremendous insecurity about his learning disability. It was why he’d pushed me away at first.

Look, you can accept that and be happy you’ve come this far, or be the fighter I know you are, and give it the middle finger, and push on—see if you can prove her wrong. I held him tighter and kissed his dark waves, inhaling his warm scent that I carried with me now; it ran through me like my blood. No matter what happens, Gideon, one thing that’ll never change is how I feel about you.

I don’t ever want you to regret me.

Shocked that after all these months together he still didn’t know, didn’t understand how much I loved him, I cradled his face between my hands.

I regret not finding you sooner. My biggest regret is this, that you still doubt me. I swallowed. Doubt us. Do you?

No. He kissed my palm. It’s not you; it’s me…always has been. I do love you. God knows I’m a bastard to live with, but you must love punishment because I haven’t driven you away yet. Between my long hours with the business and the dyslexia, I’m no prize package.

I pulled the covers off us, exposing his naked body and ran my hands over his ass. Every day with you is a gift.

I felt his cock swell against my stomach, and I smiled into his eyes, relieved to see the answering heat of desire spark.

I have to be at the store in an hour; I promised Rico. We’re gearing up for Valentine’s Day, and people are starting to place orders for dinner. But he sighed and spread his legs wider, his cock leaving a wet trail across my stomach.

I promise I won’t take long. I reached over to the nightstand for the lube
