About this ebook

Surrounded by bulls and horses, a cowboy gets pretty horny. These men live together in a bunkhouse, a small house designed to keep cowboys clean, clothed and fed. Follow along and ride flank with these enormously hung cowboys as they uncover the secret forbidden pleasures of bachelorhood. 'Bunkhouse Buddies' is an early 60s erotic novel set in the rough and tumble world of cowboys on the Great Plain

Written long before such prose was legal in the United States, this novel boldly exposes gay male carnal desires in an unapologetic pornographic setting. This was among the first novels written by Peter Schutes.

About 'Bunkhouse Buddies', Peter writes in 1961:
It’s no secret that many men became cowboys because they preferred the company and camaraderie of other rough and tumble men to the gentler life with women. These cowboys lived in groups of six to ten in bunkhouses - housing provided by the ranch owner at no cost or at the cost of lower wages. The function of a traditional bunkhouse was to give a young cowboy an opportunity to find his footing and save money before he settled down and married. Not every cowboy had those particular plans. Many just wanted to be around other cowboys like themselves, confirmed bachelors. Buried deep in the Big Hole River Valley of Montana, the Cock Crow Ranch bunkhouse was entirely made up of lifelong bachelors. When a new cowboy came along, it was never certain if he would “fit in” with the bachelor lifestyle or if he was going to have to find a new ranch with morals more in line with his own. A good fit was rare, but when that cowboy came along, he got to share in a brotherhood unlike any other.

    CHAPTER ONE - BUCK

The sun had nearly set when the Trailways Bus stopped to let off a single passenger in front of Cock Crow Ranch. Mike eyed the new arrival from the top of the trail. He remembered his first night at the ranch so long ago, and decided he would show the new kid some hospitality. He gently kicked Bandit in the side with his heels, and they cantered down the long trail to the highway.

Buck stepped down from the bus and thought that the driver had made a mistake. The fence ran uninterrupted for as far as the eye could see. This couldn’t be the entrance to a ranch. He turned to question the driver, but only tasted dust as the bus pulled away from the shoulder. Buck was going to need to convert his duffel into a backpack for the endless walk to his new home.

Cursing under his breath, he threw down the bag and sat on it. He put his head in his hands and waited for frustration to survive. Working when angry only leads to mistakes and regrets.

Speaking of regrets, he wished he had worn a more recent pair of jeans. These Wranglers were two years old, and although soft and worn, they were too tight through the crotch, ass and thighs, all three of which had grown considerably since he had bought them. The new pair of Lee’s was stiff, but it was a more generous cut, and accommodated all of Buck's bulging parts. He almost missed the tiny speck on the horizon that grew as it approached. Soon he could make out a horse and rider. Buck breathed a sigh of relief and stood.

The new kid was wrestling with his duffel bag when Mike rode up on Bandit.

You look like you could use a little help, Mike offered.

Gosh, sir, that would be awfully nice.

    Name’s Mike, and you are…

Buck. He offered his hand and they shook. Mike noticed immediately how soft the skin was on Buck's palms. It clashed with Mike’s rough, calloused, rope-burned paws.

Buck, I'm guessing you answered that ad in the Anaconda Leader. Did Dick offer you a bunk?

Yeah, Dick Burns wrote me back and said the bed was mine if I wanted it.

Mike had been busy focusing on strapping Buck's bag to his horse, so he was surprised when he looked up. Buck was just staring at Mike with big watery blue eyes. His head was framed by blond curly locks of hair. Mike made an involuntary groan. This kid was too pretty and soft to last long on the Cock Crow Ranch. He sized the boy up. Buck was built wide. It was impossible to tell if he was muscle or fat under his fleece denim jacket. That would make all the difference. Muscle, he stays, fat, he goes. Mike had nothing against fat boys; he was just acutely aware that they weren't cut out for the job Buck was taking.

With luggage secured, Mike mounted Bandit and pointed to the stirrup. Left boot in there.

Before Mike could so much as offer Buck a hand up, he was already up and seated behind him. Well, he certainly knew horses. That was a plus.

What did you do before this, Buck?

I was in the Army for a little while but it didn't work out too well.

Mike could feel the awkward pause as Buck evaded further discussion of his military career. How is it you know how to mount a horse?

I lived on a farm in Tennessee. We had a few horses. Used to ride every day.

This kid was more interesting than he first appeared.

You ever lived in a bunkhouse before?

Well, yeah, a barracks in the military. Not ever on a cattle ranch.

I gotta warn you, the guys in there aren't all as nice as me. Mike grinned.

Am I gonna have to beat the biggest one in a fight or something? Buck didn't sound scared.

I doubt it. This ain't jail...feels like it sometimes.

Buck leaned in and asked, They got any pretty girls around here?

Bandit came to an abrupt halt in front of the bunkhouse. It was an old, squat building perched on a makeshift porch of concrete and stone. The look with unpainted wood,
