A LETTER FROM MARI TO YOU
Dear Reader,
If you are in a relationship with a partner who is dealing with out of control sexual behavior or pornography addiction, I am glad you have found this supportive resource. I understand the pain, hurt, confusion, shame and anger you are experiencing, both as a therapist who works with hurting spouses and sexually compulsive clients, and as a woman who has gone through my own journey of healing from sexual deception and betrayal.
Please be assured that you do not have to go through this journey alone. While reading this material is a good first step, I also encourage you to reach out and connect with an experienced, licensed and certified therapist who understands the trauma that spouses and partners of sex addicts experience.
My website: www.growthcounselingservices.com offers resources and information for both the addict and the spouse or partner. I am licensed and certified to practice within the state of California and typically have up to a 3-month wait list. Thus if you reside outside of California, you will need to seek counseling support within your own state or region.
There are resources that can be found on www.sexhelp.com or www.iitap.com by doing a zip code search in your area. If you live outside of the United States, you can do a Google search for a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist.
While I cannot provide counseling to clients who are out of my jurisdiction, my sincerest desire is that this material will help support your first steps in healing and moving forward.
Kindly,
Mari A. Lee, LMFT, CSAT-S
MARI’S STORY
WHY I SPECIALIZE IN SEX ADDICTION

Clients often ask why I chose sex addiction as my primary specialization. Many years ago, I was going through all of the same painful emotions you are likely dealing with right now while in a relationship with a sexually compulsive person.
I know first hand the heartbreak and also the hope of healing through my personal journey, and as a therapist supporting others who are hurting in this way.
Because of my own experience, my therapeutic focus and passion is working with individuals struggling with sex and porn addiction, wounded spouses and partners, and couples whose hearts have been broken due to sexual betrayal and addiction.
I continue to hold the hope supporting the recovery of my courageous clients as they heal from trauma, betrayal and anger, and create lives and relationships that are honest, authentic and rewarding.
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and received my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, California, where I wrote my thesis on Internet Pornography: An Emerging Addiction in Males and the Psychological Impact on the Significant Other
which later became the inspiration for my book, "Facing Heartbreak: Steps to Recovery for Partner's of Sex Addicts".
In addition to my education and licensing, I am also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and CSAT Supervisor. I received my credentials and certification through the prestigious International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals where I directly trained with the esteemed Dr. Patrick Carnes who pioneered the field of sexual addiction recovery.
I speak and teach nationally and present on sex and porn addiction, as well as partner’s trauma. My next book, The Gift in the Wound: Stories of Hope and Resiliency
will be out in 2019.
