Code Blue - Jamell Crouthers
Foreword
This is a fictional story about a police officer’s life and the cases he is a part of. Any storyline in this book that relates to any other real life cases is purely coincidental. This is a book that questions whether good cops know who the bad ones are and what exactly can be done about it. Enjoy the journey.
Meeting In Corporate Buildings
It was my first day on the new job and I was excited,
I woke up with a new sense of energy in my body.
It felt good going to work during the day, I haven’t done it in years,
Hearing the birds chirping, cars pulling out of driveways in my neighborhood.
I took a moment to watch my neighbors taking their kids to school,
It made me think of Gary, Jr and those days of taking him to school myself.
Getting to the corporate building of the Drug Enforcement Administration was surreal,
As I got out of my car, walked toward the building, stopped and embraced it all.
Going in, I got through security check, got a badge with my name on it,
It was only a guest badge as I’m not fully part of the DEA quite yet.
I met with all of the head people who run the DEA when I got upstairs,
Then I was brought into the meeting room where they discussed major cases.
I was getting intel on all of the cases they were working, it was crazy,
I saw nothing but pictures on walls with arrows going in all different directions.
I guess I was finally going to learn of the case I would be working on,
It surely looks intense as I had my notebook ready to take down notes.
Some of these guys that were plastered on the wall with their mugshots,
I knew some of them from the neighborhoods that I patrolled every night.
It all made sense to me that the DEA was building cases on these guys,
Now, it was a matter of learning all about them, their movements and affiliations.
The meeting began and the man in charge introduced me to the squad,
A lot of them welcomed me with open arms and were very cordial with me.
It was a surprise, especially since I’m just a police officer on the force,
I guess whenever you have a badge and gun, the respect is given and reciprocated.
Listening intently to the start of a new journey is really surreal,
I’m loving every moment of this and this is a chance at redemption for me.
We were all introduced to the big drug bust case that they’ve been working on,
The goal is to get intel on their movements, where they’re getting drugs from and distribution.
We needed to know who the big drug dealers were, it was about infiltrating their cliques,
And getting to the big guys and taking them down but it’s about getting the smaller ones first.
We knew that this would be a time consuming process but this is how it has to be done,
There was a meticulous plan on how we would go about getting to the head honchos.
I got my own email address from the DEA as I know it will probably be temporary,
This would be the communication for us when we are not in this immaculate conference room.
After hours of meetings and touring the building, my first day was complete,
I headed home for the night with a work phone from the DEA that I had to use daily.
I surely didn’t realize how much I’d be using this phone but I had to have it on me,
Communication between us while we’re not at the office is imperative to this case.
Heading into this case, it was a big time drug cartel that we had to infiltrate,
I surely didn’t know what I was getting into but I would soon learn quickly...
E-Mails Of A Meticulous Plan
The next few days of this major case consisted of a lot of emails,
But not emails that I even suspected from a top government organization.
The emails were coming daily throughout the day,
We were told different things such as knowing who we are dealing with.
Being told that we have to take down the whole drug cartel,
Which meant planting evidence on people and bringing them in.
These were the same tactics that I was part of in my police department,
It’s just this is even more intense with us having to deliver 10 drug dealers.
These emails consisted of drug dealers that were big in body frame,
They were strong and could shoulder a load if they really needed to.
While they were on the streets making money and trying to survive,
These DEA agents are looking at them as money makers for big name corporations.
They were looked at as lock them up and throw away the key,
Allowing them to rot away mentally, physically and emotionally in a federal prison.
This was no longer about just my city, this has become a statewide thing,
Most of these drug dealers traveled through different state lines to get drugs.
This has become a gateway of getting
