    Onlookers of Another Space - Lisa Figiel

    To the Reader;

    Another New Year’s Eve has just passed. A night of new beginnings. I mention this because I worked at a new job that evening. I was, for the first time, surrounded by strangers on that special night. Yet when the clock struck twelve, my fellow employees and even some of the customers, extended their warmth and good wishes to me – a stranger.

    This book is about life – things I myself have experienced, things I have noticed in others and things I have thought about. It is about me, and also you. I have decided to take these works out of my notebook and put them in a bound form so to share my thoughts with you, a stranger. My hope is that at least one work will move you. In this way, you too can feel what I did that New Year’s Eve.

    I entitled this book Onlookers Of Another Space as the poem with this title encompasses the feelings put behind any work, and how easily it can go unnoticed. Always remember that there is someone out there in need of your warmth. In giving it you will experience life, and both of you, although strangers, will feel less alone.

    And now for my new beginning…

    The shutter opens;

    The pen clicks on,

    The ink flows,

    And words create this picture.

    Meshing into shapes;

    Both stillborn – yet immortal.

    No words will be spoken

    Yet much will be said
