Madrid is the capital of Spain, with its four million inhabitants and it is its largest city. Madrid became the capital only in 1562 and therefore does not have many historic buildings from the middle Ages but their absence is compensated by some of the most interesting museums in the world, the most intense night life in Europe and indeed the various neighborhoods. Despite being one of the most modern cities in Europe, Madrid has numerous parks and greenery. Spend a Sunday afternoon in Retire Park or Prado Museum, where you can enjoy the masterpieces of El Greco, Velazquez, Goya and others.
