About this ebook
"In our family, the ones who can hear the words are the ones who have the Power."
Maryse Guardan didn't want to be a witch. She wanted to hit the reset button, deny the power, return to sender. Maryse didn't ask to be special or singled out. She just wanted to go to school, be normal. But the things that were happening to her were not normal.
When her Aunt Linda revealed the family secret, Maryse thought it was only a joke. But the more she discovered about her family's witch heritage the more she became a believer. A prophecy has been foretold, time is running out and Maryse may be one of the Two destined to save the world if she learns to embrace her new identity as the Chosen One.

Witches Of The Apocalypse - J Asheley Brown
The world waits for the arrival of two...
Two who shall guard and not hide,
Two who will turn back the tide
When hearts of men shall fail,
The light emerging from darkness
Will prevail...
-Prophecy of the Chosen One
Chapter 1
THE SOUND WAS IN HER right ear, throbbing and pulsating, breathing and insistent. She turned over on her left side but the sound continued, it wouldn’t let up. She slowly opened her eyes and allowed them to gradually adjust to the darkness. Was she going insane? She was one of those rare individuals who could see clearly in the dark and it looked like nothing was out of place in her room, everything was neat and orderly and she was alone...except for the sound that she could still hear, now ringing in both her ears.
She slid from up under her bed sheets and tried to clumsily stand up but couldn’t quite make it. Grabbing onto a night stand near the bed, she dropped down to her knees and settled on the floor. Her breath began to quicken and she shook her head a couple of times to see if that would stop the sound but no luck. She never experienced anything like it in her nineteen years of life. It was high pitched and grating.
Searching for some ear plugs, a wad of tissue, anything, Maryse struggled to stand up once again, this time succeeding. She stumbled into her bathroom and almost shouted with joy when she found a box of cotton swabs in the medicine cabinet.
Stuffing them in her ears, one, two in each lobe, she walked back into the bedroom and settled down on the edge of the bed. She looked at her shaking hands and tried to calm herself. What the hell was that all about? I can’t be going crazy!
Maryse couldn’t help but think about her grand-mere who suffered from intense ringing in her ears for most of her life. Family tales taught her that her grand-mere was a strange duck, a voluntary recluse, who became so uncomfortable around other people that she would faint if three or more individuals were in her presence. Maryse never had the occasion to meet her and she died before Maryse’s seventh birthday, well actually on her birthday at exactly midnight. Whenever she asked any of
