Eileen Knight
After a few beading classes back in 1993, Eileen was hooked. For the last 17 years, she found herself being called upon to instruct beading classes in Quartzite Az. and fell in love with passing along the wonderful craft of beading. During one of her classes, a student mentioned how nice the pattern they were learning would look in another style. Eileen soon found herself designing her own patterns to go onto the panels and introducing them to her students. The response from her students was encouraging and Eileen continued creating her own patterns. It has been an ongoing push from her students to start publishing her patterns in books. This book is only the 1st of many more yet to come. Keep your eyes open for future editions! Eileen has also placed some of her patterns on TheBeadCoop.com and can be found under the designer name ‘Daydream Gifts’. Should you have any questions regarding any of Eileen’s patterns, she can be contacted at the following. She truly loves teaching people to bead. image03.tifIf you have never peyote beaded before, the following instructions, illustrations and pictures will enable you to pick up one of my patterns and create your own cherished project.
image04.tifIn each project you will find two types of pattern instructions and a colored image. The colored image is of the completed beaded panel. The pattern instructions are provided in graph form and placed adjacent the colored image and are also followed by row-by-row bead quantity and color placement instructions. For the projects that require assembly, each is provided with a colored image of the completed project along with written instructions on how to assemble.
image05.tifWhen you look at the written row-by-row instructions the rows are shown as LS and HS. ‘LS’ is short for ‘LOW SIDE’ and ‘HS’ is short for ‘HIGH SIDE’. When reading the row-by-row instructions, you read all lines from left to right. The numeric portion represents the quantity of beads and the alphabet portion represents the color of the beads. In the example shown, HS Row 2 is telling you to peyote 1only Black (B) bead and 10 only Turquoise (D) beads and in that order. Each time you finish a row, simply flip the row of beads between your fingers so that what was the end of the row and at the bottom of the row you were working on, is now the beginning of the next row you are starting on and the last bead of the row you were on is now at the top.
The panel in this practice run only has a few rows so that you can see how to peyote and how to decrease and understand how to read the
