Earth
East of the West
I am a child from east of the West
My heart lies neither here nor there
It stays stationed in a hazy halfway
My pride is reduced to pocket change
My loyalty demanded by the embroidered stitching of collapsing flags
The homes in which my spirit once took shelter are left dilapidated
My limbs are tugged from right to left
My body is divided into borders
I am too foreign here
Shall I return to my beloved land where the sheep roam free?
There is no one there willing to herd them anymore
But there, the people are caged livestock, immobile and idling
Gazelles feign as lions
The people wear horses’ blinders, on each side of their head
It is disguised as tradition
I am too foreign here
Shall I return to my beloved land where my opinions roam free?
There is no one willing to hear me anymore
But there, my neighbor faces imprisonment
The sounds of shotguns take custody of my courage
Neanderthals cry wolf, echoing their camouflaged ape executives
It is masked as patriotism
From East
