Yo Soy Ella

223 pages3 hours

Ella is a young woman navigating multiple worlds. The world of Harlem, her hometown, as well as the worlds she invented inside her head.

As the reader travels with Ella through her worlds, both real and artificial, it becomes apparent that despite America's attempts to disguise its disgusting prejudice as a gleaming image of a functioning meritocracy, Ella is living within a system that has been designed to leave her behind without a second thought, forever erasing her stories.

Ella tries to blend her worlds in an attempt to escape the fate before her. Whether or not she was successful, depends on the reader's definition and interpretation of what it means to be truly free.
