Description:
Two neighbours discuss recent murders in their town. One of them has a revolver in his hand...
James: a man, between 25 and 45 years old, wearing jeans and a jacket with a holster under his arm.
Michael: a man, between 25 and 45 years old, wearing a business suit.
Setting: A large living room with doors, presumably leading to other rooms. Inside it there is a sofa, a desk, a chair, two armchairs facing each other. There are dishes on the desk: a bottle, glasses, plates, etc., as well as a desktop lamp. Light is very dim. Michael is sleeping in one of the armchairs. James enters, throws his jacket into the corner, dumps a folder and a mobile phone on the desk, turns on the lamp.
James: Ah, why would a day be like that? It was such a fine morning! (Stretches himself with a satisfied look). She was so hot, and I thought I had loads of time yet. But then, out of the blue, I had to scramble. Yeah... (Glances at his watch). It's too late to go back now. Besides, I'm tired to the bone. And still I need to finish this paperwork. (Sits down at the table, opens the folder). We never had anything like that happen, and all in a single day, too! (Starts reading and writing something down, but, after turning a few pages, pushes the folder away). Nope, my head is all fuzzy. I should get a bite, at the very least. Just had two doughnuts in the entire day. (Stands up and scratches his head, looking at the empty plates). A bite, a bite... Or at least a coffee. Perhaps I can get done with this stuff then. (Picks a relatively clean glass on the table and walks towards the door in the corner, but nearly trips over Michael's legs). Damn! (Barely manages to stay on his feet). Who's here? (Turns on a light next to the armchair, gazes at Michael for a while, then emits a sigh of relief). You?
Michael: (Rubbing his eyes) I... I think I fell asleep.
James: How did you get in here?
Michael: I, I...
James: (Flicking his hand dismissively) I see. I was in a hurry in the morning, forgot to lock the door again. So you happened to pass by and decided to keep an eye on it for me. Thanks a lot!
Michael: (Yawning, rubbing his face) Ah, it's nothing.
James: (Nodding) It's good that you watched
