Before getting started, let’s review a few notes that are common to my writings…

*British spelling is often used, except for the quoted material, which normally employs U.S. spelling.

*Old Testament Scripture is normally taken from the NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE® (NASB), copyright © 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation. Used by permission.

*New Testament Scripture is normally taken from the Analytical-Literal Translation of the New Testament: Third Edition (ALT3). Copyright © 2007 by Gary F. Zeolla of Darkness to Light ministry. Previously copyrighted © 1999, 2001, 2005 by Gary Zeolla.

*The terms LORD, GOD, and Hashem are all ways to describe the personal name of God, also rendered as Yahweh or Jehovah.

*The ALT3 distinguishes between singular and plural second-person pronouns by means of an asterisk (*).

*Divine pronouns are normally not capitalized, unless they appear that way in Bible versions or other quotes.

*As a general rule, words that appear in brackets within quotes are not found in the original texts, and were added by the translators or are my personal comments, etc.

    I. Counter-Productivity

We’ve all been there. Something is going on with one of our workmates or family members; yet, when we try to find out the details, we’re hit with a wall of silence. Instead of being made abreast of the situation we’re met with some doubtful phrase such as, Oh, I really shouldn’t say anything. People we know are entitled to privacy, but it’s unwise to throw up a proverbial iron curtain over one’s affairs. First of all, the information thereby turns into a cool club. If you’re enough on the in then you have the scoop; if not, you’re left to feel the burn. On a footnote, I’m not really sure what kind of social-circle-secret could ever actually call for a pecking order of disclosure.

Moving on, the second point is more important, as we begin to touch our subject more directly. The other reason why information for public consumption shouldn’t be turned into something overly clandestine is because worse gossip will fill the gaps in knowledge. If you want to really malign someone’s name, try a phrase such as, oh…—I really shouldn’t say anything. After such an interjection, stand back as yonder molehill rivals the story-time beanstalk for height and speed in growth.

This observation is very common, especially when considering long-term, controversial issues, such as the assassination of JFK. For example, an author who recently wrote a celebrated book about the affair penned…

…In conspiring to hide evidence of their bungling before the assassination—a conspiracy exposed document by document over the last half-century—the CIA and FBI helped launch the much larger wave of conspiracy theories that followed and are likely to plague us forever…¹

Pawning people off never works because curiosity fed is never curiosity satisfied. We have a longing to know the truth. More broadly, we have an innate desire to have knots untied, problems solved, and tasks
