Teach Us to Pray
Our Father Who art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom Come.
Thy will be done - on earth as it is in heaven.

Teach Us to Pray
When the disciples saw Jesus praying they wanted to pray like He did and have the same results so they asked Him to teach them how to pray. Jesus then gave them this teaching.
Matthew 6:9 (NKJV) ⁹ in this manner, therefore, prays: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name. ¹⁰ Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. ¹¹ Give us this day our daily bread. ¹² And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. ¹³ And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
There are probably as many forms of prayer as there are people who pray. Jesus’ disciples came to Him and asked Him to teach them to pray as the forerunner, John, had taught his followers to pray. Jesus taught them what we now call the Lord's prayer. However, I am not sure that Jesus was teaching them the words to pray as much as He was teaching them a form of prayer. Jesus taught them to pray in His name to the Father. Thomson[1] shows that Jesus introduced an entirely new factor in the doctrine of prayer in the name of Christ.
"In Christian faith prayer means praying in the Holy Spirit, through the Son, to the Father. .... It means to pray to the Father as He has been revealed in the Son. .. So to pray in Christ's name is to pray as Christ would pray: and surely He has taught us that the true aim of prayer is complete submission to the Father's will, that He may do His will for us, in us, and through us.
