It's spring 2020 in the Baker Valley of Colorado and things are not going to plan.
Instead of spending the month of April getting some quality time in with her new husband, Maggie May Carver finds herself locked down with a hyperactive eight-year-old and his disconnected mother.
On top of that her grandpa is definitely up to something. Which, given his history, is not a good thing.

It's Halloween at the Baker Valley Barkery and Cafe, which means it's time for a pet costume parade. And when Maggie leaves Sam and Jack in charge of finding contestants the results are definitely...interesting. Note that this is NOT a mystery but does include the characters from the Maggie May and Miss Fancypants Mysteries series and falls chronologically after book four in that series, A Missing Mom and Mutt Munchies. It can, however, also be read as a standalone short story.
