In NYC was a frequent street artist particularly down along the Greene St., precinct where it was common for artist’s not part of a gallery to exhibit their work. I did so almost every day and for 15-16 hours per day where produced work on the spot which were small very expressionist style drawings usually of the figure and which sold. Made many such sales, certainly not enough to be anywhere near your average galleried artist in compensation, but sold dozens if not hundreds of my drawings and paintings. Enough to stay alive and pay my rent in whatever dubious lodgings may have had to resort to at such a time, because as expensive as Manhattan is now and really only for the super-rich.
