About this ebook

Petra is trouble. Adam doesn’t like trouble. He doesn’t like liars, cheaters, or manipulators. He does like beautiful women. He likes them best when they behave like a lady in public and a submissive slut in bed.

When someone chases Petra from her home, she jumps the gate and hides in Adam’s pool. Adam’s home is his sanctuary and he doesn’t like distractions or problems that disturb it. Petra is a walking, talking disturbance and distraction.

Can these two find a way to get along or to get it on? Who will give in and who will be in control?

Petra is the first of a new series of books, The Pool, by award-winning author, Nick Foxx.

A diverse blend of music floated through the rooms of Nick Foxx’s house as he grew up. His family listened to and played blues, jazz, folk, gospel, country, rock’n’roll and classical music and they all fascinated him. Late in the night, he’d sit with his father and grandfather while they told stories and sang their favorites.Professors and artists mingled with ranchers and farmers around picnic tables in Nick's backyard to enjoy fried fish, barbecue, and good music as the neighborhood children chased fireflies in the twilight. The music he heard filled his head with dreams of being a professional musician. He played at local dances, clubs, and bars before he could drive. By twenty-one, he had performed for crowds of thousands, heard himself on the radio, and sang on live TV. His music has been used in advertising, film, television, theater, and played in concert halls. Records he worked on decorate the walls of his office and home.Nick began publishing ebooks in 2008 with Anonymous Publishing. While writing under the pen name, Nicky Faulkes, Nick’s work “The Time Of My Life” won the Earth Day Story Contest on Literotica.com and gained him the praise of peers. It encouraged him to keep writing and telling stories.Nick is a semi-retired composer and musician, happily married for over twenty years to a beautiful, loving woman who is the love of his life. Nick’s stories are a blend of his personal experiences and fantasies that merge to bring genuine, relatable characters and engaging tales to the page. His greatest delight is to share the joy he feels creating new work with the people who listen to his music or read his stories. Please contact Nick at: nick@nickfoxx.net to get the latest on his next project or to join his facebook group. These are works of fiction. Names, characters, places, brands, media, and incidents are either the product of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. All characters depicted in this work of fiction are 18 years of age or older.

Please remember that you’re reading fiction. In the world of fiction and fantasy, sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies and the emotional ramifications of intimacy are controllable by the author. Prologue

Making a lot of money isn’t at all difficult if you don’t mind screwing somebody over to get what you want. To do it, you have to be ruthless, heartless, and have a very weak moral compass. If those are not all true, you have to be one of two things: lucky or smart. Adam Carlisle was both. Enrolled in the London School of Economics, he saw the trend that American banks were falling into by issuing sub-prime mortgages and bundling them with other investments to make a profit when they were re-sold. It was a recipe for disaster and he wrote a paper predicting the collapse of the housing bubble and its ramifications on global markets. His professor thought the idea was ridiculous and made Adam write a new paper. But the research he did paid off later.

When he finished his studies, Adam received a small sum from his family estate just in time to take advantage of the recession in 2008. His friends and family thought he was crazy but Adam invested almost every penny he had years before the market fell. Since he saw it coming, he shorted stocks (betting on the prices to fall) and made a lot of money. The argument could be made that he profited off of other’s misfortune and screwed people over to make a lot of money. But he didn’t cause the problem or make it worse. Adam’s only sin (if it could be called that) was taking advantage of a bad situation to make an obscene amount of money from it.

Being a smart guy, Adam was beginning his doctoral studies in economics with a full scholarship and a teaching position at an Ivy league school. He didn’t have any plans for his career but had thought about writing, research, teaching, or opening a financial advisory firm of his own. He had enough money to do nothing but liked the idea of doing whatever he wanted far more.

His first purchases were cars, one for work, one for reliability, and one for fun. A Tesla was the perfect car for the future and an eco-friendly, high-tech choice but a London cab was a simple 4 cylinder, deisel engine that he could repair himself if neccessary. For fun he bought a jeep. Not a new jeep with tons of electronics and computer components, but an old-school, rough and tumble jeep. The only car he still wanted to find was a Morgan. The classic, two-door roadsters were gorgeous and fun to
