About the author

Martha is a chef and a cookbook author. She has had a love of all things culinary since she was old enough to help in the kitchen, and hasn’t wanted to leave the kitchen since. She was born and raised in Illinois, and grew up on a farm, where she acquired her love for fresh, delicious foods. She learned many of her culinary abilities from her mother; most importantly, the need to cook with fresh, homegrown ingredients if at all possible, and how to create an amazing recipe that everyone wants. This gave her the perfect way to share her skill with the world; writing cookbooks to spread the message that fresh, healthy food really can, and does, taste delicious. Now that she is a mother, it is more important than ever to make sure that healthy food is available to the next generation. She hopes to become a household name in cookbooks for her delicious recipes, and healthy outlook.Martha is now living in California with her high school sweetheart, and now husband, John, as well as their infant daughter Isabel, and two dogs; Daisy and Sandy. She is a stay at home mom, who is very much looking forward to expanding their family in the next few years to give their daughter some siblings. She enjoys cooking with, and for, her family and friends, and is waiting impatiently for the day she can start cooking with her daughter.

Eat Clean and Feel Better, Live Longer, and Look Better - Martha Stephenson

Clean eating is all the rage. It’s all about fresh produce, healthy grains, no processed food, seafood and healthy, grass-fed meat. Sound revolutionary? It really is not. Until the start of the 19th century, that is exactly how most people ate. Then come the great innovations of canned and processed foods, which required preservatives. People were thrilled at the convenience. Life suddenly became so easy! And it suddenly became a lot less healthy.

Food was no longer fresh. Animals were fed to fatten them up quickly instead of keeping them healthy. And whatever cows and chickens eat, we eat. Is it any surprise that heart disease, auto-immune problems and cancers have spiraled during the 20th century?

This Clean Eating Cookbooks takes you back to freshness and optimal health. The changes you’ll make will probably be small, but they’ll be crucial.

First, it’s important to eliminate all processed foods from our diet. Processed sugars and flours have not value and do harm. Canned and packaged foods all have preservatives. Some of them can last for years. That’s their great selling point! Can you imagine what is in them?

When you start to eat clean, you’ll start eating a lot like your great-parents did. Lots of fruits and vegetables that is picked fresh. Plenty of whole grains and natural sweeteners such as honey or molasses. A lot of people those days couldn’t afford meat every day, so it was a treat. That’s how we should look at meat – an adjunct to healthy produce and grains, not the star of the meal. Fish, with its healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, has always been readily available and should be consumed as often as possible.

Since so much food today contain additives, look for organic alternatives. It’s no guarantee of absolute purity, but you greatly increase the odds. And don’t forget seasoning, spices and herbs. Those convenient small spice containers at the supermarket add no nutrients to your cooking. Instead, use fresh herbs. A small herb garden, even in your kitchen, is so aromatic and fragrant, and it adds real health benefits to your cooking. And don’t forget the health benefits of fresh ginger and garlic.

It’s okay to take small steps, and this Clean Eating Cookbook will help you get started. Since produce is best consumed raw, get into the habit of munching on whatever you are chopping. Soon, you be eating several cups of fresh, raw fruits and vegetables every day without realizing it.

When cooking, stop using unhealthy vegetable oils and use healthy coconut oil or olive oil instead.

Since life presents many temptations, this Clean Eating Cookbooks helps you be prepared. Have a few homemade granola bars handy
