About this ebook
Environmental health policies are based on public health, and this new edition continues to detail their evolution as well as the legislation
and other policies that have emerged to address public health issues associated with specific environmental risks. Planned actions are outlined for what
are thought to be the most significant physical risks to human health in the natural environment. The risks posed by polluted air, water, food, harmful
chemicals, and garbage are all discussed.
The authors have expanded this list to include climate change, tobacco products, GMOs, illnesses connected to the
environment, energy production, biodiversity and species extinction, and the built environment. The policymaking histories of many environmental dangers
are depicted, as they were in the original edition. There are three major ways in which this version departs from the one it replaces. Chapters detailing
particular environmental dangers, such as air pollution in China and India, are supplemented with global viewpoints.
There is also information on how ecological and human health are negatively impacted by environmental risks. Readers will also learn about solutions that politicians and individuals might adopt for reducing or avoiding certain environmental threats.
