Jessika Klide

"Everyone has secrets!" Jessika Klide burst onto the romance scene in 2014 with her debut novel Untouchable. It steadily rose to the top of Amazon's erotic romance list and made her a favorite among fans. Jessika wrote five full-length novels. Once the series was complete, she was encouraged to continue the hot love story between Maximus Aurelius Moore and Siri Wright. Published as Siri’s Saga, The Series, a continuing steamy romance series, she hopes an even broader audience will be reached and her devoted fans will wear 'happy faces'. Jessika describes herself this way. "Jessika Klide is my pen name. I'm from LA ... Lower Alabama. The Deep South. My mind is extremely sensuous, some call that slutty, so it's just better to use a pen name. Trust me on this! ;)" Whether it's Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines, military men make her swoon. Her alpha male hunks are heroes that fall for her confident, smart, and oh so sexy heroines. She is fun and flirty like the heroines she writes. She believes lust and love form perfect unions and the stars do align for true love

    The Dare

    Talia Taylor

Mother! I'm not coming home until Christmas.

I roll my eyes at my roomie, Darlena, and smirk a 'geez, this is torture' expression at her. I hold the phone away from my ear so Darlena can hear her ranting. I make blah, blah, blah, shadow puppets with my fingers, and Darlena giggles behind the hand she has clamped over her mouth to stifle the sound. I've heard this rant thousands of times in my twenty-five years of life on earth, and Darlena has heard it nearly one hundred since we've been roomies.

When my mother takes a breath, I interrupt her with the only excuse she will be thrilled to hang up the phone hearing. Mother, listen. I have to go. I'm auditioning for the lead role in a new movie, and the casting director just walked in. Yes, yes, I'll tell you all about it if I get it. Love you! I tap the end button and disconnect our call.

Darlena shakes her head. Why can't you just say you have to take a shit or something?

I laugh, Trust me. The movie lies are better for her mental stability.

I wag my finger, cock a hip, and make a fantastic impression of my actress mother, Marinda Taylor, in her recurring role as a teenage girl who sassed her way into television sitcom stardom. Now, don't you doubt me on this! I know what I know, and you don't know what you think you know.

Darlena laughs, If you could get an iconic role like that, eh? Hey, who is Eric? I haven't heard her mention him before.

I shrug, He was my best friend growing up. They thought we should get married and join our family's fortunes.

What? She says, floored. Like an arranged marriage?

Exactly like an arranged marriage. To our parents, marriage is a legal contract between two people who blend all aspects of their lives. It's a partnership. The fact that Eric and I were best friends fed their delusion.

Her mouth hangs open. How have I not heard this story before?

Eric is gay. He's not waiting on me to return to marry him. He's waiting for me to return to come out of the closet. The longer I'm gone, the easier it is on both of us.

    Oh, wow!

I shrug and walk into the bedroom. It's not a big deal.

Don't be naive, she says. This is a big deal. Your mother thinks you're betrothed to a gay guy. You need to tell her. She rolls her eyes, I can't even….

I soften. She and I became besties soon after I moved to Los Angeles, and I tend to forget she doesn't know how my life was before I moved here or how it would be if I choose to return to it.

I know it's wrong to string her along, but my life would be a living hell if she knew the truth. She would march men in front of me, expecting me to pick one I liked. Knowing no one won't say no to marrying a billionaire heiress, I'm not settling on a guy I'm not in love with. I walk into the closet. I'm going to the gym.

She flops down on my bed and stares at the ceiling while I strip and change into gym clothes. I forget you're filthy rich. You act so normally.

I jump around and squat several times to arrange my too-tight workout pants. There is no such thing as normal, girlie. There is only conformance to the world around you, and my other world is nothing like this. In this one, fairytales come true, prince charming exists, and love is living happily ever after. In the other one, everything is cut-throat, cold, and calculating. Cash is hard and cold, and cash is king. Don't doubt those truths.

I walk over to the full-length mirror and examine my reflection. The bright red accent stripes against the solid white make my boobs look fantastic. I smile, then turn to study my ass. My butt cheeks are shapely now and not flat like before. It's been hard work, and I'm pleased with the results. The matching red accent stripes down the sides of the tights highlight my booty nicely.

Darlena rolls onto her stomach. Knees bent and ankles crossed, she admires my figure. Girl, if I only had your body.

I tease her. If you only committed to the gym, you mean. You can't shape your body with a spoon. I smirk at her.

She laughs, then moans. It's a trade-off I'm not willing to make.

I plop down next to her, and as I slip my matching sneakers on, I tell her. You're beautiful just the way you are. You don't have to work at it like I do.

She laughs at me, I love you, boo.

I love you too. I jump up and tell her, I'm off to take charge of my life.

She giggles as she rolls off the bed. I'm off to spoon-feed mine a generous serving of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.

An hour later, I walk into a new gym. Routines mean ruts, and I'm all about living in the moment. I make decisions spontaneously because it makes me feel free.

After I sign in using an alias, I get a text from Darlena.

    Where are you?

    I'm at the gym.

    No, you're not.

    I'm here, and you aren't.

I'm shocked. Darlena hasn't exercised once the entire time I've known her. Walking to the back where the treadmills are lined up, I reply.

Why are you at the gym?

I was going to surprise you.

    Are you going to sweat?

    Don't be ridiculous.

I was going to film you.

    Oh! LOL! Thank you,

    but obviously, I went

    to a new gym.

    Bummer. Bored?

    Yes. Same faces.

    Day in and day out.

When I arrive at the line of machines, I look up from my phone. It's mid-morning, and there are only four in use. Not wanting to risk being recognized, not that my mug is famous from my non-existent acting career, but I am
