When Madeline is expecting her first grandchild, suppressedchildhood memories begin interfering with her life. After the deathof her mother, her psychiatrist urges her to return to her childhoodhome to recapture those forgotten years. In the house of her youth,she finds Maddie, her "inner-child". Together, they face and strugglethrough those early years. Madeline helps Maddie cope with theconfusion caused by a Schizophrenic mother and doting father; theneglect when she finds herself alone after her father's death; thefears from abusive bullies; and the horrors she experiences as theresult of this environment.
