BookID for Authors and Publishers is a program for approved content providers that wish to determine when copies of their works may have been uploaded to a Scribd platform without their authorization. If a content owner provides a reference copy of their copyrighted content to Scribd for use in the BookID system, the system will use that content solely in an attempt to identify and disable access to copies of that content uploaded by other users.
Uploading reference copies to BookID is likely to reduce unauthorized copies of copyrighted works, but it is not foolproof and Scribd cannot guarantee that all unauthorized copies will be identified and disabled by the system.
Authors and publishers may take advantage of BookID without charge, and regardless of whether they choose to make their content available through the Scribd platform.
