Focusing on professional negligence defense cases, Cullen McKinney routinely serves as counsel in malpractice suits against medical professionals and hospitals, and was recently featured in the trade publication Michigan Lawyers Weekly for his successful defense, in trial, of the Detroit Medical Center.
Cullen McKinney has earned praise from his peers as a Medical Malpractice Attorney in the legal resource directory Martindale-Hubbell, where he received high marks in the areas of legal knowledge, analytical capabilities, communication ability, and legal experience. Mr. McKinney was also singled out in SuperLawyers, a legal publication which highlights the top attorneys in each state, as a Rising Star in the state of Michigan.
Often a lecturer on issues related to professional liability, Mr. McKinney recently conducted a seminar entitled “Defensive Medicine and Medical Malpractice,” where he cautioned doctors on the risks of using defensive medicine as a means to prevent malpractice law suits. Such practices raise the cost of healthcare in the nation and lead to problems for both doctor and patient. Mr. McKinney has also lectured on such topics as how electronic medical records can decrease physician errors and how to prepare a deposition that allows doctors to successfully defend their treatment of a patient.
In addition to his presentations, Mr. McKinney was published in the New York Monthly Digest of Tax Articles for his piece “Home Office Deductions and I.R.C. Section 280A: Did Commissioner v. Soliman Really Clear Up the Meaning of Principal Place of Business?” When away from work, Cullen McKinney enjoys golfing and coaching youth flag football.view less
