27th, in San Mateo? We still have a limited number of spots left in three short Kidpower workshops, which will be filmed by Storytellers for Good for our One Million Safer Kids campaign. We are especially looking for families with children with special needs who would like to practice some safety skills and are willing to be filmed in the early afternoon session- and there are a few spaces left in the morning sessions too! Although this is not a full Kidpower class, children and parents together will be taught and practice Kidpower skills in a fun hands-on way. This is a great opportunity to come together A girl practices her Kidpower with your kids in a safe environment to discuss personal safety, how to avoid bullying, and 'Ready Position'. how to defend themselves in potentially dangerous situations. Seeing a film crew in action is also exciting and interesting for many kids. The schedule will be: 9-10:30 a.m. Children, ages 3-6, with their parents for a "Starting Strong Safety Practices with Puppets" 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children, ages 7-14, with their parents for "Kidpower Safety Practices with some physical self-defense instruction"- will include a head-to-toe padded instructor 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tailored safety practices for young people with special needs (ages 5-17) together with their parents Parents will need to plan to attend with their children and will be asked to sign a video release. However, we will NOT use the last names of children or parents on the videos or give out any other personal information. Both Irene van der Zande, Kidpower Founder and Erika Leonard, California Program Manager, will be leading the practices.
