CAUSE AND EFFECT DIAGRAM - UNIT ME-751

NOTES: 1) ALARM AND SHUTDOWN TO BE PROGRAMMED IN CUSTOMER SYSTEM. SHUTDOWN SIGNAL IS COMMUNICATED HARD-WIRED TO THE PSA CONTROLLER. THE SIGNAL IS TYPICALLY BYPASSED UNTIL THE UNIT HAS BEEN STARTED. 2) LOW FEED PRESSURE SHUTDOWN CAN BE BYPASSED AT START-UP OF THE UNIT BY USING STARTUP MODE. 3) ALARM AND SHUTDOWN LIMIT VALUES BY CUSTOMER SHOULD ENSURE THAT NO LIQUID CARRY OVER TO PSA FEED INLET CAN OCCUR. SIGNALS TO BE PROGRAMMED IN CUSTOMER'S SCOPE. SHUTDOWN SIGNAL IS INCLUDED IN THE PSA REMOTE SHUTDOWN SIGNAL. 4) REPRESSURIZATION PRESSURE NOT REACHED: P(rep) < PT-001 - 1.115 KG/CM AT THE PRESET REPRESSURISATION TIME PLUS A DELAY THAT IS A FRACTION OF THE PRESET REPRESSURISATION TIME. 5) PROVIDE PURGE PRESSURE NOT REACHED: P(pp) > P(SET PP CUT-OFF) + 0.5 KG/CM AT THE PRESET PROVIDE PURGE TIME PLUS A DELAY THAT IS A FRACTION OF THE PRESET PROVIDE PURGE TIME. 6) BLOWDOWN END PRESSURE NOT REACHED: P(BD) > PT-TGD + 1 KG/CM AT THE PRESET BLOWDOWN TIME PLUS A DELAY THAT IS A FRACTION OF THE PRESET BLOWDOWN TIME. 7) HIGH DEVIATION IS ABSOLUTE VALUE OF PV - SP > 0.7 KG/CM. HIGH HIGH DEVIATION USES A LARGER ALARM LIMIT FOR EACH LOOP. THE HIGH HIGH LIMIT IS A FUNCTION OF THE PROCESS CONDITIONS. 8) PRESSURE CHANGE IS MONITORED DURING EACH EQUALISATION. IF THE PRESSURE CHANGE EXCEEDS THE TOLERANCE, THE ALARM IS RAISED. TOLERANCES ARE DIFFERENT FOR EACH EQUALISATION AND DIFFERENT FOR PROVIDE AND RECEIVE EQUALISATION STEPS. THERE IS ONE ALARM FOR EACH EQUALISATION. 9) LONG LONG ADSORPTION TIME BYPASS IS SET MANUALLY BY THE OPERATOR OR AUTOMATICALLY BY THE LOGIC AT EVERY START-UP. IT IS DE-ACTIVATED BY THE OPERATOR OR BY THE LOGIC - IF FEED FLOW > 35 % OF NOMINAL CAPACITY FOR 30 MINUTES. 10) VALVE FEEDBACK FAILURE ALARM IS GENERATED WHEN : - VALVES WITH DISCRETE FEEDBACK : AT LEAST ONE PROXIMITY SWITCH DEVIATES FROM VALVE COMMAND. - VALVES WITH ANALOG FEEDBACK : DEVIATION > 20% BETWEEN VALVE COMMAND AND ANALOG FEEDBACK. 11) VALVES WITH THE FOLLOWING TAG NUMBERS : PV-011 THROUGH PV-121 XV-012 THROUGH XV-122 PV-013 THROUGH PV-123 PV-014 THROUGH PV-124 XV-015 THROUGH XV-125 XV-016 THROUGH XV-126 12) VALVE FAILURE OCCURS IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS : - VALVES WITH DISCRETE FEEDBACK - BOTH PROXIMITY SWITCHES SHOW A FEEDBACK MISMATCH. - VALVE FEEDBACK ALARM OCCURRING SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH PRESSURE MONITORING ALARM WHEN VALVE IS COMMANDED TO OPEN. BOTH ALARMS MUST BE ON THE SAME VESSEL. - VALVE FEEDBACK ALARM WHEN THE VALVE IS COMMANDED TO CLOSE. 13) TRANSMITTER NOT HEALTHY SIGNAL MEANS THE TRANSMITTER IS SENDING AN ANALOG SIGNAL BELOW 3.5 mA or ABOVE 20.5 mA. 14) IVO DEVIATION OCCURS IF ANY CALCULATED IVO DEVIATE BY + 15% FROM THE AVERAGE IVO FOR THE VALVE SERIES. 15) REMOTE SHUTDOWN SHOULD INCLUDE TRIP OF UPSTREAM UNIT, GENERAL PLANT EMERGENCY TRIP, HIGH HIGH LIQUID ' LEVEL IN FEED KO DRUM. HIGH HIGH FEED TEMPERATURE IS HANDLED AS A SEPARATE SIGNAL BY THE PSA SHUTDOWN LOGIC. 16) BYPASS CAN ONLY BE (DE)ACTIVATED BY OPERATOR. 17) PARTIAL SWITCHOVER BYPASS IS SET MANUALLY BY THE OPERATOR OR AUTOMATICALLY BY THE LOGIC AT EVERY START-UP, SWITCHOVER OR SWITCHBACK BUT CAN ONLY BE DE-ACTIVATED BY THE OPERATOR. 18) ALARM LIMIT IS DYNAMICALLY CALCULATED AS FUNCTION OF THE CAPACITY FACTOR AND THE NUMBER OF ADSORBERS IN SERVICE; IT IS USED AS MAXIMUM FLOW LIMIT AND COMMUNICATED AS A REMOTE FLOW SET-POINT TO THE PSA VENT VALVE CONTROLLER. 19) ALARM LIMIT VALUES : 213 754 Nm3/hr IN MAIN MODE 162 024 Nm3/hr IN FIRST SWITCHOVER MODE 131 781 Nm3/hr IN SECOND SWITCHOVER MODE 20) PSA SHUTDOWN OCCURS WHEN THERE IS NO STANDBY PLC CPU ON-LINE. 21) FULL I/O REDUNDANCY : I/O FAILURE WILL RESULT IN A SHUTDOWN ONLY IF BOTH CARDS FAIL SIMULTANEOUSLY. 22) PLC HARDWARE FAILURE ALARM IS A COMMON ALARM GROUPING ALL PLC FAILURES : PLC SWITCHOVER, CPU NON-STANDBY STATUS, CARD FAILURES, POWER SUPPLY FAILURE, COMMUNICATION FAILURE, I/O COMMUNICATION FAILURE, OTHER POWER SUPPLIES, RELAY FAILURES. SHUTDOWN LIMIT VALUES: N/A N/A 138 717 Nm3/hr

THE SHUTDOWN WILL OCCUR IF THE FEED FLOW CANNOT BE REDUCED WITHIN A COMPLETE SUB-CYCLE.
