R.C FLAT ROOF CONSTRUCTION Method of Construction i) Constructed from reinforced concrete with reinforcement in both directions. ii) Main reinforcement spans in direction of main roof span.

iii) Distribution reinforcement spans across the main reinforcement. iv) Main bar is bent at ends to provide key to obtain maximum connection between reinforcement bar and concrete. v) Loading width of wall/column is 100mm.

vi) Flat roof slab thickness is 150mm minimum.

Flat Roof Finishes i) Flat roof is finished after the required gradient <10 degrees is obtain through c&s screeding. ii) Alternatively used aggregate which is low heat-conductor instead of sand.

PARAPET WALL i) External walls of buildings raised above the level of flat roof for appearance purposes. ii)
iii)

Free standing. Should not >6 times slab thickness in its height (for stability) Top surface expose to the weather conditions, therefore should be capped/covered wiyh non-absorbent material
