I would like to dedicate this book to anyone that is looking for an easy way to implement proper nutrition into their daily diets by consuming enough fruits and vegetables. It is sometimes hard to get the recommended daily fruits and vegetables with our busy lifestyles. Our meals sometimes are the center of our sacrifices which can lead to obesity, several different aliments including cancer. Many people over consume calories in place of the correct ratio of essential nutrients which can provide our bodies with phytonutrients and antioxidants. We may feel full, but have not really fed our body the proper nutrients it needs for optimal health. Phytonutrients and antioxidants are the substances which can keep our cells performing at their optimum rate, thus providing our bodies with health and vitality. In return protecting our bodies from disease and possibly providing our bodies with a healthier, longer lifespan. I would like to offer you a simple, easy to implement solution, Juicing. Juicing doesn’t take much time out of a busy, sometimes hectic lifestyle. A simple juice machine can produce the daily recommended amount of fresh fruits and vegetables in one glass.
Cleaning your juicer can literally take seconds if you pick the correct one.
Research shows that individuals are not getting the correct number of nutrients that are recommended for optimum health. It is reported that over 70% of individuals are lacking proper nutrients on a daily basis (U.S. Department of Agriculture) and obesity is on the rise. The lack of proper nutrition, phytochemicals, macro nutrients and antioxidants can lead to disease and many other ailments. By consuming these all important fruits and vegetables you will be increasing antioxidants in your body which are reported to decrease and fight a variety of diseases. Juicing is one powerful way to increase the much needed nutrients and is easy to incorporate into anyone’s lifestyle. Juicing also provides some side benefits that can include but are not limited to weight loss, better digestion, feeling better, having more energy and many, many more. The nutrients, vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and antioxidants are essential for wellbeing and optimal health. Individuals who consume larger amounts of these essential nutrients are likely to have a reduced risk of chronic disease such as
stroke, type-2 diabetes, certain types of cancer, and perhaps high blood pressure and heart disease. Juicing can provide your cells with the proper nutrients they need to stay healthy, while providing our body with better digestion and elimination. So, if you’re looking for an easy way to provide your body with better nutrition and increase your health and wellbeing then this book will provide you with an easy to implement, great tasting way to better health. A healthy diet that is recommended by the Food and Drug Administration, suggests consuming 5-9 fresh servings of fruits and vegetables daily. It can be hard to consume the correct recommended servings of fruits and vegetable with the traditional diet. For the average person in today’s society there are many factors that can keep us from planning and sticking to the proper diet. You can rest assured you can easily get the proper daily nutrients of fresh fruits and vegetables by picking a variety fruits and vegetables to juice. If you are looking for an easy way to improve your health you may want to opt for the easy juicing solution.
Types of Juicers
There are many different varieties of juicers on the market. You might ask? What juicer should I purchase? Masticating, single gear, and single auger juicers use a single gear or auger that grinds or chews the fruit and vegetables separating the plants cells from the pulp. The process can produce more juice than centrifugal type juicers and are usually more efficient and maintain the nutrients due to less friction and heat. Masticating juicers do a great job but are somewhat more expensive than other juicers and the cleanup requires more time and effort than other juicers. Centrifugal juicers can produce juice at a quicker rate but leave much of the juice in the pulp that most people throw away. Centrifugal juicer have a harder time producing juice with green leafy vegetables and don’t provide the optimum level of juice for the amount of greens you have to use to get the optimum amount of juice. Centrifugal juicers use a spinning shredder to create a pulp while the centrifugal force pushes the pulp against a strainer screen separating the juice from the pulp with the centrifugal force. The high speed creates more heat than a Masticating juicer and can destroy some of the nutrients.
Fruits and Vegetables may need to be cut into smaller pieces when using a Centrifugal juicer. There shuts are sometimes small and larger fruits and vegetable can’t fit into the shut without being cut into smaller pieces. Centrifugal juicers are probably quicker to clean than most of the other juicers, but there can be several parts that need to be separated and cleaned before putting the machine back together. Centrifugal juicer can also become stained if not cleaned very thoroughly. I have owned several different juicers and currently love the Vitamix 5200 juicer. The Vitamix 5200 juicer comes with a high quality 2 HP motor and an automatic overload protection device. If the machine can’t process the fruits or vegetables it will automatically shut the machine off, protecting your investment. The Vitamix 5200 juicer comes with a stainless steel blade assembly they claim never needs to be sharpened and an almost indestructible contain made of Eastman Tritan copolyester. The salesman advised it is a similar to the material used to make airplane windows. It is see through and looks like a durable plastic container. The unit comes with a lid and a center cap that can be removed so you can insert the stir stick to help push fruits and vegetables down towards the blade
for ease of mixing your juice. The opening of the container is wide and is easy to put any fruits and vegetables in the container unlike some of the Centrifugal juicers that have smaller shuts. Clean up take only seconds. Once you’re finished juicing, simply rinse the container. You can also add a drop or two of your dishwashing soap and water into the container and place the unit back on the base and run the juicer a few seconds. The unit will be clean and ready for the next use. I place the softest fruits and vegetables in the bottom of the container and then the frozen fruits or vegetables towards the top. If you are not using frozen fruits or vegetables, simply add some ice cubes. Start your unit on low then increase the speed to full power, stir your juice with the stir stick until full blended which can take up to a minute. Pour the juice into a cup or glass and enjoy. It is best if you drink the juice right away to get the most nutritional value from the juice. The longer the juice is stored the less nutritional value it may contain. I believe the juice produced by the Vitamix 5200 juicer is better than the other juicers produce due to the fiber and pulp remaining in the juice.
Statistics show that individuals don’t get enough fiber in their diets. The Vitamix juicer provides the fiber of the fruits and vegetables in your drink. You are not losing any nutritional value when using the Vitamix juicer. You are consuming the whole fruit and vegetable, the way nature intended you to consume it. Other juicers remove the pulp and provide just the juice of the produce. By removing the fiber, juice will quickly enter your body and could spike your blood sugar levels. For individuals with diabetes this may not be optimal. Juicing with a unit like the Vitamix juicer keeps the pulp with the juice and slows the digestion of the juice allowing a more natural increase in blood sugar levels. The other style juicers suggest that you collect the pulp, save it and reintroduce it into other foods (Quiches, Casseroles, Lasagna’s, Soups and Stews) you cook to get the benefit of the fiber. Who has the time for all the extra processes needed when you can have all of it done with one simple juicing step? It’s proven that most individuals are not receiving enough fiber, why would you want to remove something that is vital to your health and can help relieve constipation and provide a more natural way to eliminate. Consuming fiber can also clean your bowels and remove toxic chemicals and other unwanted substances from the colon.
I think this creates too many steps for individuals and families that are on the go and don’t have any extra time in their busy schedules. These are just some of the reasons I’ve switch to a unit like a Vitmix juicer. I do believe it is a matter of choice and you will receive the benefits of juicing with either type of juicer you decide is right for you and your family. The most important step it to implement juicing into your and your families lives for optimum health and vitality. By adding frozen fruits to your drink or ice cubes you keep the juice cold and most of the nutrients in the juice as opposed to using the Centrifugal juicer that heat the juice and remove the pulp. In my opinion you’re removing a lot of nutrients and throwing a lot of your money away. The Vitamix juicer can also be used to make healthy soups which come out of the machine piping hot. It just depends on the length of time you let your juicer run. The longer you let it run, the hotter the ingredients will become. Prices can vary for the different types of juicers. The Centrifugal juicers can cost $250.00. Masticating juicers can cost $300.00 and Vitamix juicers can cost $300.00 - $449.00.
I believe it all comes down to your individual preference. Take into consideration cost, effectiveness, quality, durability, ease of cleanup, and length of warranties. I decided juicing will be something I will do for the rest of my life and wanted a juicer that would last a long time, provide me with whole foods, and provides quick and easy cleanup. The most important part is to start juicing and gaining the benefits juicing can provide you and your family.

Acai berries Good source of: Rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C, polyphenols, iron, calcium, vitamin A and amino acids. It also contains unsaturated fats such as omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9. Possible Health Benefits: The high level of antioxidants helps your body to fight free radical damage and overall body health. Strengthened Immune System and provides greater energy and stamina. Improved sexual function and digestion. Increased energy levels. Promotes increased circulation and helps to prevent blood clots.

Apples Good source of: Vitamin C, Beta Carotene, Vitamin B, Fiber, boron, cellulose, Lutein and pectin. Possible Health Benefits: Reduced risk of cancer. The high fiber concentration can reduce the risk of colon cancer. Try varying the type of apple you select to get the most benefit. There are about 2500 different types of apple varieties. Each type of apple may have a slightly different taste. The dietary fiber in apples can help protect the mucous membrane of the colon from exposure to toxic substances by binding to cancer causing chemicals in the colon. The dietary fiber can also help to prevent absorption of dietary LDL cholesterol (bad) in the gut. The Vitamin C found in apples can help the body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge harmful, pro-inflammatory free radicals from the body.
Apricots Good source of: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Beta Carotene, Potassium, iron, zinc, calcium and manganese. Possible Health Benefits: Phyto-chemicals that can help prevent heart disease, reduce LDL (Bad cholesterol) levels and have protective benefits against some types of cancer. Apricots are high in antioxidant properties that are essential for vision. Vitamin A is also required to maintain healthy mucus membranes and skin. Consuming natural fruits rich in carotenes can help protect your body from oral cavity and lung cancers. The Vitamin C in Apricots is another great natural anti-oxidant. Bananas provide much needed fiber that can help to keep your bowels regulated and reduce constipation. Good source of vitamin B6 that has a beneficial role in reducing homocystine which is one of the leading causes for coronary artery disease and stroke levels in your body. Bananas contain vitamin C can help resist against free radicals which can cause damage to your cells.
Bananas contain minerals that are important to maintain bone strength and cardiac protection. Copper is another mineral that can help in the production of red blood cells. Potassium in bananas are an important component of cell and body fluids that help control heart rate and blood pressure and can help to counteract bad effects of sodium.
