Having Tea with the Kings

A Study in Daniel: Belshazzar

Daniel 5
What could have been Belshazzar’s reasons for taking and using the Jewish temple vessels out of his grandfather’s treasury? Who could understand the writing on the wall, vs. 17? Who could not? Verse 22 says that Belshazzar knew “all this.” What did Belshazzar know in vs. 18-21?

According to verse 30, was Belshazzar given time to repent after God’s judgment was given? Vs. 22 “And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart.”

Daniel 7 Name and describe the four beasts in Daniel’s vision (vs. 1-8, vs. 17)? Describe the Ancient of Days in verses 9-14. Who came to the Ancient of Days from the clouds of heaven in verse 13?

Daniel, still in his vision, asks for an explanation. What answer does He receive in 17 and 18?

What will eventually happen to the fourth beast in verses 25-27? How did Daniel respond to the vision? Vs. 14 “His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away.”

Daniel 8 In what year of Belshazzar’s reign was this vision given to Daniel? Explain the exchange between the ram and the goat in verses 3-7.

Notes:

After the goat is destroyed, the little horn soon appears in verse 9. What does the little horn accomplish against the righteous (vs. 10-12)?

Which heavenly messenger is chosen to give an explanation to Daniel? What message does Gabriel tell Daniel twice concerning the prophecy’s timing in verses 17 and 19? The little horn that persecutes the righteous is mentioned again in verses 23-25. By whose power is he allowed to act? Why do you believe God allows this?

What does Gabriel ask of Daniel in verse 26?

What was Daniel’s response to the vision?

Vs. 8 “And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power.”
