As I said, it calls for 1 speed hump per block, striping of parking lanes, and turn restrictions. Also here are the relevant ANC minutes:

http://www.anc3g.org/jan09.html MINUTES OF PUBLIC MEETING JANUARY 12, 2009 CHEVY CHASE ADVISORY NEIGHBORHOOD COMMISSION 3/4G 9. Proposed Second Speed Hump for 3300 Block ofTennyson Street. Chair Thompson noted that there had been little response to a DDOT proposal to add a second speed hump to Tennyson Street in the 3300 block. Under DDOT rules, a speed hump must have the support of 75 percent of the neighbors affected. The Commission advertised the proposal both on the Chevy Chase listserv and by delivering a flyer to each neighbor on that block. To date, only 5 responses have been received, all of which were negative. Nobody appeared at the meeting to speak for or against the speed hump. The Commission decided to take no position on the proposal at this time. By vote of 6-0, it agreed to send an email reply to DDOT notifying them that the Commission had given notice to all residents, that no person had attended this ANC meeting either in support or opposed to this proposal, and that of the five comments received, all were negative. The ANC therefore agreed not to take a position in this matter at this time. Further, the ANC requests DDOT provide information on the origin of the request.

Mark, Any idea what's going on with this? Judi Gold said she got a call Friday from some woman from DDOT - couldn't recall name .. Apparently she also told Judi there was neighbor opposition. How is this possible to bar sidewalks on a federall road? Judi; may be speaking with Jeff Marootian on this since I spoke with her last night at our ANC meeting. Thanks!

Gabe: Can you please investigate why the Utah Avenue sidewalk project from Tennyson Street to Pinehurst Circle has just been scrapped? The neighborhood has been waiting for over a year. I announced this project in the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 on our Chevy Chase Community listserv and at several ANC meetings. I have received numerous cheers from residents and the gratitude of my fellow commissioners nearby.

1

We've been patient. First we were told Spring, then Summer, then wait until Western Avenue is underway, In August, I was told we'll get back to you once our team has gone out in the field to nowit's not happening! Why would DDOT threaten to erase all of the good will that has already been established in the anticipation of finishing the sidewalks along Utah? As you know, I have worked very hard with Said Cherifi, Paul Stephenson and Anna Chamberlain to improve the reputation of DDOT through all of the road improvement projects in my district I always have had your back (except for the ridiculous speed mountains - you're on your own), So yesterday, when speaking with Paul Stephenson on some Western Avenue matters, he told me that Asset Management said neighbor opposition forced the project to be removed from the list. What opposition? What neighborhood notification? What ANC Commissioner involvement? is there was none, BACKGROUND DDOT has already installed sidewalks all along Utah Avenue on both sides of Nebraska. This is the last section to complete the sidewalk network. It's not a question of "if" we should get sidewalks but "when". Utah is extremely dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists, dog walkers and the elderly who continue to walk and stand in the street while cars come flying down the hill from Western Avenue and MD, DDOT's own policy indicates that streets with public transportation and/or school routes are given priority for sidewalks, This particular stretch has five bus stops! It is the school route for Lafayette Elementary, Alice Deal Middle School and Wilson High SchooL Furthermore, it is a federal road. Based on these reasons, I lobbied for the sidewalk network to finally be completed. Said Cherifi agreed it made sense and allocated funds to our request over a year ago. Gabe - Said, Paul, and I have spent the past two years and three road projects designing a process that resulted in a win-win-win for DDOT, the District and neighbors. Is DDOT going to forfeit its own policy, pedestrian safety and neighborhood good will by tossing this project on the scrap heap? I am requesting that you reconsider abandoning this project for all of the safety reasons outlined above and for the failure to provide notification to the ANC and neighbors. I appreciate your prompt attention and response to this matter, The fact

ANC Commissioners: We live at 3322 Tennyson St and came home tonight to traffic cones announcing the imminent installation of a speed hump directly in front of our property. We never received any notice of a speed hump and do not want one. Isn't notice required? DDOT is closed for the night and won't open until 8:30AM, while the no parking starts at 7:30AM so we are worried work may begin in the morning. What can we do? Thanks.

As I said, it calls for 1 speed hump per block, striping of parking lanes, and turn restrictions. Also here are the relevant ANC minutes: http://www.anc3g..org/jan09.html MINUTES OF PUBLIC MEETING JAN UARY 12, 2009 CHEVY CHASEADVISORY NEIGHBORHOOD COMMISSION 3/4G 9. Proposed Second Speed Hump for 3300 Block ofTennyson Street. Chair Thompson noted that there had been little response to a DDOT proposal to add a second speed hump to Tennyson Street in the 3300 block. Under DDOT rules, a speed hump must have the support of7S percent of the neighbors affected. By vote of 6-0, it agreed to send an email reply to DDOT notifying them that the Commission had given notice to all residents, that no person had attended this

ANC meeting either in support or opposed to this proposal, and that of the five comments received, all were negative. The ANC therefore agreed not to take a position in this matter at this time. Further, the ANC requests DDOT provide information on the origin of the request.

ANC Commissioners: We live at 3322 Tennyson St and came home tonight to traffic cones announcing the imminent installation of a speed hump directly in front of our property. We never received any notice of a speed hump and do not want one. Isn't notice required? DOor is closed for the night and won't open until 8:30AM, while the no parking starts at 7:30AM so we are worried work may begin in the morning. What can we do? Thanks.
