Best Community Organization" by Orchard Park A ward Program, OP Music House reaches financial finish line to secure 501(c)3 Cer tification. Orchard Park, NY, August 01, 2012 -- Two and a half years after its inception, S uzanne Perry, Founder and Director of OP Music House, Inc. takes a huge cleansin g breath, with tears of accomplishment in her eyes. Perry was a victim of domestic violence for over 20 years. Mid-2009 she decided to break her silence and started sharing her tales of abuse. The response she go t was so overwhelming, she needed an outlet and in January, 2010, she launched O P Music House. It is a nonprofit organization that raises awareness, prevention, education and eradication of domestic violence as well as providing direct supp ort and referrals to men and women impacted by it. Using music as the vehicle, Perry traverses the world with her "exposure" events . Perry explains, "What if my curtains were opened before the next interrogation , the next beating.. what if the neighbors could see? What if the parents, grand parents, neighborhood.. what if the whole world were looking in my window. Would my abuser have hurt me? No, of course not. With that theory, all the events I d o are centered around the 'exposure' theme. We can't continue to brush this real ity under the carpet any more! It touches far too many's lives, it's time to exp ose it." OP Music House's signature event is the "EXPOSURE Concert, Because love shouldnt hurt," an annual 3-day concert which has reached all corners of the world via l ive streaming, that in 2012 had over 60 bands perform on 2 stages. The events are upbeat, positive and optimistic, during which Perry explains why she stands today, "as a symbol of hope, as living evidence that you can live a m eaningful, fulfilling life outside the confines of an abusive relationship." She conducts public and motivational speaking engagements, and hosts multiple radio programs supporting small businesses, bands, and offers motivational inspiratio n. OP Music House was recently awarded 2012 Best Community Organization by Orchard Park Award Program, and after its 2nd annual "RUMBLE to break the silence: Bike run to expose domestic violence," have finally reached their financial goal and will complete 501(c)3 financial obligation via the Foundation Group. It's a majo r business and personal milestone for Perry. "Our volunteers get involved for their own personal reasons but most have someho w been impacted by this epidemic. For their tireless hours of hanging posters, s preading the word, social media promotions, making baskets, asking for donations , 50/50s and all the coordination involved with organizing benefits, they deserv e a major thank you. My main volunteer, Cat Marcello, spearheaded the Bike Run e vent and thanks to her putting her life on hold, we will now secure this milesto ne which opens up a whole host of new opportunities! It's something we have trut hfully earned, worked so hard for and to see us finally achieve it is so enlight ening, it's something concrete that nobody can deny!" OP Music House represents peace thru music and is not a pro-women organization. "Men are impacted by domestic violence and abuse too, we welcome all people of a ll makes and models to attend our events, be seen and heard. Abuse crosses lines of gender, color creed, religion, career, there are no limitations and we unite to stand together in harmony, because love shouldn't hurt!" The next set of goals will involve strategic partnering and locating a facility
to be used as a performing arts venue. domestic violence, women in business, nonprofit, organization, live music, conce rt, performances, motivational speaking, EXPOSURE Concert, New York Contact: Suzanne Perry OP Music House, Inc. 156 Burmon Drive, Ste 1Orchard Park NY 14127 716-548-5013 firstname.lastname@example.org http://www.opmusichouse.org
