Statement on Practical Cooperation of Ministers Led by President U Thein Sein

1. The National Council of the Union of Burma (NCUB) is much delighted to learn thatthe 88Generation student leaders and leaders of the various political organizations and forces,holding the pre-Silver-Jubilee ceremony of the Four-Eight Movement at the Aleh-taikkyi Deik-ki-na-ra-ma Pagoda Assembly Hall in Chan-mya-tha-zi Township of Mandalay, made offering of Wazo robes to Sanghas (Buddhist monks) and paid respect to the leaders who had fallen in the movement. 2. The NCUB is very much pleased to learn of and earnestly supports the acts of twoministers of the Union Government, Minister U Aung Min and Minister U Soe Thein, who cooperated for the freedom and success of the ceremony by personally meeting with leaders of the ceremony, givingfinancial assistance and recognizing the value of the ceremony. 3. Moreover, the NCUB fully welcomes and supportsthe formation of the “Committee for Rule of Law and Stability” and giving the chairpersonship to the NLD leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, by the parliament. 4. With this statement, the NCUB would like to express its views that the practical cooperation on the basis of the true will of the citizens - respecting, recognizing and valuing the will of the people - permitting the people’s political expression in accordance with the democratic practices and allowing participation in political movementsby the government, led by President U Thein Sein, as the beginnings for the rule of law and good governance, from the basis of progress and amity in the country.
