SYLLABUS
1. Equillilbrium of co-planar forces (including friction) 2. Simple theory of bending; bending stresses, shear stresses and principal stresses/planes. 3. AFD, SFD & BMD for all types of determinate beams and rigid jointed frames. 4. Deflections of determinate beams, by moment area and conjugate beam methods; Deflections of rigid joints frames and pin jointed frames by strain energy and virtual work (unit load method) 5. Unsymmetrical bending of beams, shear centre 6. Influence lines for statically deteminate structures, Rolling Loads. 7. Statical and kinematical determinancy & indeterminacy of structures. 8. Analysis of indeterminate beams, rigid jointed frames and pin jointed frames by flexibility method. 9. Analysis of indeterminate structures by direct stiffness method. Slope deflection method & moment distribution method. 10. Rivetted & Welded connections: simple connections of bracket plates to columns, beam to beam and beam to column connections, design of framed unstiffened and stiffened seat connections. Design of tension and compression members. Design of S.S.beams. 11. Limit state method design as per IS456, design of singly and doubly reinforced rectangular & T sections for flexure, desing of members in shear, desing of axially loaded columns, design of one way and two way slabs. 12. Basic principles of prestressed concrete, methods and systems of prestressing, losses in prestress, analysis of various types of sections subjected to pre-stress and external loads.
